Fabulous location, and characterful building, which hasn't lost its charm when it has incorporated modern facilities. It requires a long drive to reach by car, but we had included it in a bike tour as the finale of our route, and it didn't disappoint.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good quality, and the half board package was really good value. Beautiful mountain and forest surroundings, and if you wanted to take advantage of the walking, each room was provided with traditional walking sticks to use.

These people insist on a two night booking, which I accepted as there was no other hotel listed by booking.com within 20 miles. However on arrival, within my estimated time, there was no one there. A 'phone number was stuck on the door. I called it: a woman answered and said "no habla ingles - closed".

We booked the attic room and it was very cosy. The hotel is in a beautifull location with views of the mountain. The food at the restaurant was a little pricy but worth it since the excellent quality. Enjoyed the pool as well and the general service of the staff.

Fantastic location, walking distance to town. Our room was more like a small apartment, very comfortable with the AC too. Right next to the pool and dog friendly. Very quiet relaxing stay. We also ordered takeaway from the restaurant for lunch! Great idea 👍

Very beautiful place with well kept historical buildings. Surrounded by olive trees and clean air. A great place to relax and walk around. Numerous bars and restaurants too. Also visit Baeza for a day, only about 15 minutes drive or bus and also a world heritage site

This is the heartland of the Spanish and possibly, the...
This is the heartland of the Spanish and possibly, the world's, Olive Oil Industry and well worth visiting whether you appreciate the oil, or not. Nearby are Úbeda and Baeza, which also happen to be rich in history, but are small charming Spanish towns themselves. Each town has its own medieval walls, forts, and a central Cathedral that are masterpieces of building architecture, workmanship and art. Simply walking around these towns, espacially the old part of town, you are exposed to the cobbled streets and the inlaid artwork beneath your feet.

Baeza is a really pretty town in the Province of Jaen.
Baeza is a really pretty town in the Province of Jaen. It has a lovely town square with restaurants and shops. The Cathedral or Basilica is fascinating and well worth a visit. There are tour and olive oil tastings. Its a lovely town to wander around for a couple of days. It has a really long and interesting history.
We went onto the city of Ubeda for the day, which is another beautiful fascinating city with a long and chequered history.
We went in July and it was very hot. Quite a few of the restaurants were closed, (mid week) or shut for a week for staff holidays.
I think it might be better in the October when its not as hot and after the olive harvest.

Linares is a typical Spanish town.
Linares is a typical Spanish town. There is not a lot to do here, but has an old lead mining history and just outside there is a very good Roman archaelogical site with mosaics etc at Castulo which was an unplanned and amazing find.

I came with my sun to twitch the Iberian Lynx, we succeeded and saw 5 lynx, including a female with two cups. In the evening we spend some time in the city, we found some nice restaurants, the food is excellent and very cheap in relation with prices we pay in Holland.

The hosts Bev & John were wonderful.
The hosts Bev & John were wonderful. Their house is attached to the holiday accommodation but they never invade your privacy. If you do need them they are always available. Perfect. The accommodation is furnished well with all the equipment you will need. We were provided with a well stocked arrival pack. The terrace, gardens and pool are perfectly kept. The views are wonderful and as there is very little light pollution the night sky is outstanding. We loved it so much we’ve booked to go back next year. Thank you Bev and John for a great time.

This is a very comfortable apartment in this charming town.
This is a very comfortable apartment in this charming town. The only tourists seemed to be Spanish. Fascinating history including the bronze age fort in the valley and the wonderfully preserved Moorish castle. The whole town has paved and often narrow roads, and fortunately very little traffic. Marina is a thoughtful host. Try the local red wine. Cheap but delicious.

I asked the owner to provide me with the missing kitchen...
I asked the owner to provide me with the missing kitchen equipment, including a cutting board to replace the missing hot dish rack. The owner refused and then charged me 100 euros for pushing the coffee machine on the kitchen counter. He even threatened me with a lawyer. It's a modern way to double-up on guests.
