Just loved everything about it. The staff and locals made us feel like family! Their local knowledge of the area was so helpful too. We saw places that we probably would have missed without their advice. Only wished that we could have stayed longer! The rooms, dining area etc were beautifully decorated. Everything was spot on. We are definitely planning to go back again if we can! Lynne and Mal - Victoria Australia

T's cafe and Caithness Cuisine were my favourite places for dinner. The Co-op is around the corner and Lidl a 10 minute walk along the seafront. The bus to John O'Groats is outside the Royal Bank of Scotland and only costs £2 each way. There's a lovely parkrun on Saturday morning next to the leisure centre.

Everything surpassed expectations.

Everything surpassed expectations. I had the most peaceful night that I can remember, the facilities were spot on, the views were spectacular and one immediately felt a peacefulness that I can only describe as sublime. The caravan itself was immaculate and I particularly liked the decking which had double doors opening out on to it. The provisions left were outstanding, the layout and size of the rooms made it easy for us of advanced age to navigate , the beds comfortable and the washing and showering facilities very clean and easy to use.

Castletown is a small village within easy reach of Thurso and John O'Groats, making it handy for onward travel to Orkney by both ferry routes from Scrabster and Gills Bay. Wick is also only approximately 14 miles away. The harbour is within walking distance from the main street and other pleasant walks nearby. Castletown Hotel offers evening meals and weekend lunches. A local shop has long opening hours which sells a variety of goods, handy if you've forgotten to pack for example, toiletries.

The proprietors Euan & Emma were excellent company and very attentive to guests' needs. The hotel had an excellent menu with accompanying wines, beers, spirits, if required. The hotel also had an extensive range of locally-produced spirits. The accommodation was excellent and well-equipped. The only down-side was the lack of TV reception - although being without TV was somewhat of a blessing!
