We liked the way the staff were very friendly. The place was clean even though they were doing renovations. Restaurant and Bar staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They were happy to chat when not busy. The breakfast was really nice. Lots of choice and very well prepared. Tasted delicious. The Receptionist on the evening we arrived gave us some history of the Hotel which was interesting. We will be going back to stay as it is also a good base for the area. We really enjoyed our stay.

Unfortunately we arrived on a Monday to discover that nothing was open until a Wednesday! However, we managed to go through the gate to the palace grounds and enjoyed a lovely peaceful and very pleasant walk through the grounds to the deer castle and returned by the river. The walled garden looked amazing, from what you could see over the top of the wall. Whilst the palace was closed we benefitted from the peace and calm in the grounds and left contented with a view to returning another time but on a Wednesday!

Love Beamish, have visited many times, it’s well worth having a couple of days as there’s so much to see, it’s a fabulous walk around, but also has the various transportation options, they are endless and very easy to explore Beamish, great for people who may have walking difficulties. Great for an educational experience for children too! We had fish & chips from Davy’s fish shop, queuing time can be long but well worth the wait. Only problem is that there is only minimal outdoor seating area to sit and eat the food, it could improve this by adding more tables and seats!
