I had a fantastic stay at Gilesgate Moor Hotel. Graham & Wendy were fantastic hosts. Very friendly and accommodating. Graham gave me a great tip regarding a lovely walk back into Durham through the countryside that met up with the riverside walk into town. The breakfasts were fantastic, pot of tea, orange juice, brown toast, porridge and full fry. A plate of scrambled eggs and a late check out from a clean, comfortable room on the Sat morning before I ran the Durham parkrun was really appreciated.

Very welcoming at reception, found room to be clean, spacious and double bed very comfortable. Main road runs past our room and we didn't have any noise disturbance and had a great nights sleep. I enjoy leaving the car at home and this hotel is on a bus route between Durham and Bishop Auckland. The X21 bus goes through Durham to Chester le Street and Newcastle. Would have liked to dine at the adjoining Indian Restaurant but didn't get the opportunity on this occasion.

We enjoyed an amazing stay at the Marriott Hotel in Durham. The hotel is worthy of its high reputation, and we could not fault anything during our stay. The weekday staff were most welcoming, and housekeeping staff very obliging. Having a bar fridge in the bedroom was extremely helpful, and we were fortunate in having a marvelous view over the river. The location was exceptional, being a short walk from the centre of the town and the Cathedral. Thankyou.

This is a local pub and not a 5 star hotel. It is one of my favourite places to stay in Durham. I am usually there alone when visiting my aged mother who is in a care home nearby. The staff are welcoming and friendly. I always feel safe there, I am happy to visit the bar alone in the evening. The breakfasts are well cooked , the pub and rooms are clean, there is parking and the location is good for access to Durham city and the surrounds.

Stayed in a lodge apartment separate to the main building. Our room was a decent size, well appointed and very comfortable. Restaurant was good for dinner following a later arrival and breakfast was quite good too. Ample off-street parking and very convenient for access to Durham and the motorway for places further north. Staff were very friendly. Several restaurants nearby or a quick drive to Durham for further options.

Adele and Geoff are the perfect hosts, having restored, renovated and enhanced this impressive 19th century manor house. A perfect base for visits to Durham and the heritage North East Coast. We had an enormous ensuite room with a magnificent sea view. Adele even suggested places of interest for our journey home. We would have no hesitation in recommending the White House Hotel.

The Tree House was a fabulous property. It was everything you'd expect and more. Location was within easy access to Durham by bus or cab. The apartment itself was over The Green Tree pub, which is a family run business. We ate there twice and the food was second to non! Everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. Absolutely would return for a further visit, fabulous!

Lovely hotel in a quiet country location, but just 15 minutes outside of Durham. The staff made you feel very at home. The room was lovely and the bed super comfy. Great view onto the lawns. Food was good. Loved that our cooked breakfast came out piping hot. Loved the garden and we enjoyed sitting out as the weather was great during our stay.

Well-appointed ground floor apartment. Easy to find and easy parking Saturday into Sunday at least. Great location for Durham, double-glazed and barely any noise from the road. Didn't cook but all the equipment was there. Wet room especially useful for those with reduced mobility. Comfortable and clean. Great communication from the host.

Perfect location just outside Durham with a regular bus service. Staff all very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was excellent had several meals and Breakfast. Loved that we saw wildlife out of our hotel room. We were lucky enough to see Deer and a Barn Owl up close. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect location for where we wished to visit, warm and comfortable, lovely host Maxine who greeted us on arrival, and much appreciated welcome pack. Enjoyed the little patio/garden. Park and ride brilliant for centre of Durham just five minutes from apartment. Don't forget to visit Hall Hill Farm.

Location perfect for Durham amenities and restaurants. Parking was close by and not expensive. Picked keys up from a near by shop, hosts had left a welcome of snacks and tea and coffee which was well received. Apartment was very clean and comfortable, and quiet considering its location.

The hotel is beautiful and elegant. Everything is very clean. The cooked breakfast was quite nice. The hotel is located up a hill from the town center and overlooks a beautiful wild area toward the river. Be sure to take a walk along the river if you stay in Durham.

An incredibly convenient location for Durham City Centre. Easy access and great apartment. Excellent communications from host who provided clear instructions in advance and was accessible and helpful throughout our stay. Couldn’t ask for more.

We stayed in Plawsworth for my daughter’s graduation which is just a short drive away. And it’s easy to drive into Durham City Centre. The scenery was just so beautiful. The apartment is spacious and comfortable, and had everything we needed.

Location was perfect, within walking distance of Durham City centre. Free on-site parking was very much appreciated. Overall, the hotel was well decorated and very warm and comfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient.

We had a lovely attic room & the lady who run the place couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. A boss place to stay right in the heart of Durham. Would definitely recommend The City Hotel 🥳

Excellent apartment set in such a beautiful location right in the centre of Durham. The apartment itself was clean, modern and full of personal touches. I would definitely stay here again!
