I adore this hotel, and even though they were refurbishing while I was there, no noise or disturbance was heard. I had a fabulous room on the first floor with a lounge area, large bathroom and huge bed! The heating wasn't connected yet as the rooms were not all finished but it wasn't a problem. The staff was wonderful. My only regret was not booking the Sunday Roast lunch in time because it was full and we had to go elsewhere... Refurbishing should be finished end of march 2025 so I will be back then to discover the new restaurant and bar!

Everything. The location directly in the New Forest, the staff which was so kind and helpful, the rooms which have been entirely renovated, the restaurant for breakfast and supper, the huge garden in front of the hotel, the horses in the parking the morning of our departure (horses are free to go where they want in the New Forest).

Firstly, what a lovely property! Set in a quiet road. Only one hour from Pooles port, close to most of the large supermarkets. A very warm welcome and a lovely bedroom, well soundproofed, very comfortable and decorated beautifully. We had dinner at the Bear, excellent food, great staff. Breakfast was delicious! We will be staying here again, perfect for people travelling back to Guernsey the next day, or for a longer stay. Thank you

FAQs about hotels in New Forest

A Place of Beauty and Mystery

Located in the south of England, the New Forest is the place where William the Conqueror used to hunt. Today, this beautiful woodland area with the footpaths has interesting flora and fauna.

Explore this exciting park on foot or by bike and you will discover a green paradise with charming villages and rich history. Known as the Royal Forest during the 11th century, the New Forest is home to ponies, cattle, wild deer, frogs, lizards and wild birds.

The picturesque village of Lyndhurst is the capital of New Forest and an elegant place with a variety of shops, restaurants and tea houses. The New Forest Museum, the church of St. Michael and All Angels, and the Queen's House are some of the most important places to see. Lyndhurst Road station is just a 10-minute drive away.

Surrounded by forests, Brockenhurst is another inviting village to visit. Wander around its pleasant neighbourhoods, have a refreshing drink in one of the pubs and admire St Nicolas church, the oldest one in New Forest.

The lovely riverside town of Lymington has a rich sailing tradition featuring two marinas, sailing clubs and a yachting centre. Booking.com has a variety of hotels and guest houses in the area around New Forest.

Both the bedroom and the bathroom were clean, and provided all the amenities that we had expected. The bedroom was spacious; the beds were comfortable; kettle and tea/coffee were provided. Traffic on the nearby road could be heard, but was not an issue for us (we were in one of the front rooms, closest to the road). The bathroom was spotless, and the shower/bathtub excellent (good water pressure and temperature); large towels, soaps and shampoos were provided. The parking lot right in front of the entrance made parking easy and fast. A word of advice for your initial arrival: set to the hotel’s address provided here on Booking.com (Southampton Rd, Landford), our rental car’s GPS took us to a small farm half a mile east of the hotel. Best specify that the hotel is located right where Glebe Ln turns off the A36, on the south side of the road. Mobile-phone reception was spotty around the hotel, so make sure to have all of the check-in information saved locally (door code, key-lockbox code). We’ll be happy to stay here again on future trips to the area!

Lyndhurst is a lovely little town, the Fox and Hounds is very good and the little shops are interesting and different. The trouble is it is in the middle of the New Forest and is a bit of a bottle neck. When we stayed most of the traffic was travelling through Lyndhurst as the A31 was closed because of a forest fire.

Brockenhurst is a charming village in the heart of the New Forest, perfect for a peaceful countryside escape. Surrounded by woodland and open heath, it offers excellent walking and cycling routes, along with the unique sight of free-roaming ponies and wildlife. The village has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with cosy pubs, cafés, and small shops. It’s an ideal base for exploring the New Forest, though it can get busy during peak seasons and transport options are limited without a car. Overall, Brockenhurst is a great destination for nature lovers looking for a quiet and scenic getaway.

Stayed here as close to a country show we were going to. Booked quite late, so maybe we should have looked into the hotel a bit more. No food Monday and Tuesday, only breakfast, but pubs around were serving, just inconvenient when children are involved and you have to drive or get a taxi. Evening staff member not good, but daytime and breakfast staff lovely.

I liked the fact that there were shops, a large park and a great pub, the carpenters arms, in the village. Another good pub called the new queen inn, which is very large, has good food and is by a river, but that is a couple of mikes outside Bransgore. There’s also a beautiful old church in Brockenhurst which is delightful and definitely worth a visit. Just one thing, Bransgore is not in the new forest, it is just outside, so to be in the midst of wandering animals, you’d have to go a few miles up the road.

Beautiful chalet with luxury finishes. Private front yard with seating, addional decking to the rear overlooking a small green where New Forest ponies and donkeys were frequently seen. A number of local pubs and eateries that looked lovely. Due to the shortness of my stay I was unable to experience them sadly. Nicely positioned for Ringwood and forest walks.
