The place was just absolutely adorable, even if not on a beaten path (which is exactly what I was looking for), in a quaint little village, right by the shore. Absolutely adorable! I wish I could've stayed longer. If without a car, just take a taxi, Uber doesn't run there.

Lovely little hotel in quiet Grandtully. We enjoyed the food and stay at this small inn, and walked one afternoon along the river bank to the next town as well as visited (the outside at least - as it was closed until 2 PM) the nearby Menzies Castle.

This little gem in the middle of Scotland ❤️ the rooms are just as you would imagine, cosy, clean and with the small town feel. There is a restaurant and a pub with very attentive staff. The food is good at both as is also the breakfast they serve. Definitely recommened while you are in town also the visit to Blair Atholl castle and gardens.

It is in a beautiful place with lots of walks nearby. Also if you like relaxing, it can be that too! I have never stayed somewhere so clean, it was spotless. Normally when you go self catering there are dirty dishes that you can’t use. Not here, absolutely spotless. The size of it was also much bigger than it looks from the outside.

Perth is another city that is located so you can take side trips to other areas easily. We went to Glamis Castle by train to Dundee and then by taxi to the castle. A wonderful Italian restaurant was right next to the Salutation hotel and a French Restaurant wasn't far away. We had nice breakfasts at "Bert and Bob's" that had a very friendly staff.

There are some nice cafes to eat or for just a cuppa during the day but nothing seems to stay open after about 8pm for dinner much the same as other small towns in Scotland. Had a small fish from highly acclaimed fish shop. Wow was that less than average. Smallest, thinnest fried fish ever!! Plenty to explore, Cathedral in gorgeous setting. Beautiful little streets and square round cathedral area. Beatrix Potter exhibition in Birnam. Small place packs a lot in.

Blairgowrie is an excellent case for the surrounding area with plenty to do. We have longstanding family connections with the town and area which was the reason we were visiting, but the nearby countryside and hills for walking and exploring and distilleries and nearby proximity of all that Perthshire offers makes Blairgowrie a good place to stay a bit off the main A9 route

Nestled amongst the mountains with paths and tracks leading all over what’s not to like? Sadly, the general facilities here have gone. No shop for example. One place did have a sign out for coffee, but there could be an opportunity here for someone. Worth climbing up the Cateran Trail heading south to get stunning views looking down on the village. Also visit the stone circle, old bridge and the church. Just soak up the atmosphere!

if staying for a few days make sure to bring enough food with you as there is only one shop locally with not much in it, alternatively stock up on your way at Aberfeldy before you get to Rannoch. The scenery is fantastic and some great walks available and most relaxing place to stay
