The room was excellent, presented well, spacious and clean . Food quality was very good. The staff were very attentive. They were very helpful to suggest options at breakfast or in the bar. Remembered our names, drinks and asked about our day. Special mention to Byron (bar) and Martin (breakfast) who gave excellent service. Hotel was beautifully presented, not too big and felt homely despite its grandeur. Grounds beautifully kept.

Walworth Castle is located in a beautiful countryside location close to the freeway. The building itself is full of history and has everything you need to enjoy a few days away, including its own restaurant for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Meal servings are very generous, and food is good quality. All staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Mary at reception who took the time to show our family around and explain some history of the castle. Highly recommend a stay here.

Hotel near to good road access but very quiet itself and back from road. Darlington itself is a mix of old and new. Still enough of the history left to make it enjoyable. Lovely cafe above Waterstones. Good craft and real ale bar a short walk from Ballantyne. Town Centre still has a good Department Store. You can go anywhere from Darlington rail station for a day trip. Locomotion museum is great for families.

Redcar (-by-the-sea) is trying hard to get back to its glory days (before the peers were demolished) with the refurbishment of the town centre. The beach is long and sandy and the sea water clear and swimmable if you avoid the rocks. The promenade is worth a walk, passed the fishing boats and the oldest lifeboat in the world museum. Not many restaurants but plenty of cafes.

The walking was both abundant and easily accessed. With great independent bars and eateries. We walked to Roseberry topping and caught the bus back from Guisborough. Several miles were also clocked up on the Cleveland Way coastal path. We sampled the delights of the Ship Inn, the pillar box and the brass monkey with welcoming staff in all.

As a Georgian, elegant market town, with the most amazing viaduct running beside the length of the High Street, Yarm has lots and lots to offer. The on-street parking is a real bonus - used to be free (time-limited), but is now very reasonably priced, and still enables visitors to be at the centre of things immediately.

A nice market town with easy countryside walks. The bakery is a highlight, 70p for scones and £1.50 for a generous slice of cake. The town has a Sainsburys, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S food, Iceland, and Heron Foods. It's easy to walk to Guisborough Forest and join the Cleveland Trail.
