This hotel was exceptional in everyway. Quiet, large room, comfortable king sized bed and the sound of the stream through the windows was so tranquil. Staff so friendly and helpful. From the beautiful cooked breakfast to the scones and clotted cream every afternoon it just felt like home. Lots of walks from the beautiful Grasmere village. Jump on the bus if you wish to many places. Good restaurants nearby to walk to and tea rooms at the door. Just so relaxing this place. Lots of parking. Great outdoor and indoor space to relax with complimentary beverages. We will be back one day.

This was such a perfect hotel to stay in. The lovely little balcony with a view of the stream. The room was spacious, the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided was excellent. It was also very easy to visit nearby towns and access to local walks.

I was greeted by the very helpful Oscar, who checked me in and carried my bags to the room. The room at the back of the inn (101) was nicely decorated and clean with a super comfy bed / linen. You have access to ‘Another place’ pool / sauna which was a bonus. Enjoyed dinner with live music on the Friday evening and pleasant breakfast the next day. The inn looks over the beautiful Ullswater lake. I will definitely return.

Pooley Bridge became our annual holiday place as a holiday destination, all seasons round, camping or renting. Close enough to Glenridding, variety of hikes including Hellvellyn (striding edge), and there are so few SUP places, the water was beautiful, warm mid August this year (due to global warming) Plenty of food in the village store, quality veggies and farm products. Also lovely restaurants. Some SUP equipment available in Penrith at Go outdoors but you can find some things for kids as in the village. Reghed is close by, very handy during cold winter days, where they have a cinema, restaurants, best icecream, a soft play and others.

Glenridding is a beautiful place to visit lots to do .

Glenridding is a beautiful place to visit lots to do . You can hire boats go on a ferry to Pooley bridge go walking lovely cafes & especially The Ramblers that was beautiful for morning coffee so highly recommended Glenridding.. And as for the beautiful scenery what more could you ask for 10 & a load more stars 🌟 just being around the lake people watching & relaxing as long as you’ve got the weather. There’s a lovely cafe just by the lake & again the views sheer bliss I don’t do walking but am happy to soak up the beauty that is Glenridding. There is a bus that takes you to Penrith or Windermere 508 & it’s a great place for walkers too ..

excellent value for money.

excellent value for money. Loved the location, hardly used the car. Comfortable bed. Amazing view from our window. Had a nice bath, good to relax in after a walk. Very helpful staff, special mention to Sam on reception. Good selection at the buffet breakfast. Enjoyed the two nights we ate there, had the bar snacks, particularly enjoyed the steak pie and veg. My veggie husband enjoyed the food, but the veggie menu was limited. We didn"t have a dog with us, but seemed very dog friendly, there was just one sittine room where dogs were not allowed. Would definately go again. The coffee in the bar area was particularly nice.

We have stayed in Watermillock for 2 nights. We had excellent experience. The property is very big. Rooms are good size. Outside garden with well running just next to it is amazing. WIFI was a bit slow, but with all of us using mobile network, we did not mind at all. Highly recommend and would surely come back again.

A small village - but very near to the M6 so easy access to a beautiful part of the lakes. The pub is a great traditional pub - we had a few drinks after walking before we had dinner at our accommodation. Very friendly. Beautiful countryside and no through traffic. Easy to get to Pooley Bridge or along Ullswater. Close to 3 smaller Wainwrights as well for those wanting to climb a bit higher. Aira Force is very close and makes a great walk - around 2 hours or so to the top of Gowbarrow via the falls - wonderful for a picnic lunch! Loads to explore from here - one visit just isn't enough!

Pooley Bridge is a fascinating place (village? town?)

Pooley Bridge is a fascinating place (village? town?) I'll be back soon. The huge wood above is a walkers paradise and apparently there are remains from way back on top. D'you know any walking and'or cycling guides? That would be really useful for us townies. Another feature I'm interested in is the fact that Ullswater is the source of a river, not the other way round...... can you work out which river? Cycling down to Howtown is cycling bliss. The question is can you go over the top further on down?

Glenridding in cooler weather is calm, peaceful and friendly. The village stores on the corner has friendly staff, all shops have good stock. Hotels are welcoming. Easy to stroll round the village for short leg stretches and there are many footpaths to set off for more challenging routes. Easy access to the waters edge from the village. An excellent roadside path to Patterdale, its interesting church, another hotel and pub, and further walking routes. Bus connection to the rest of the lakes and Penrith. Ullswater Steamers have a main jetty and there is a yacht club. By St Patricks Well, only 2 minutes walk from the village, there is a lovely cafe, boat hire and other recreational facilities.

There are some great shops, a lovely Bookshop cafe, run by two great women where we had a great cup of coffee and some toast and marmalade. They were very friendly and after we looked for some books. Not all places are wheelchair friendly, so you may have to Google it for yourself.
