BEST!! In Greece and perhaps also elsewhere in Europe. A renovated building, from some 100 years ago, opened last year, highly designed carefully & mindfully to every detail. No wonder this beauty is named Aestetic Hotel, while its name Eramai means the deep love that was invested in this space. For guests it is a unique stay experience. The staff goes along with this spirit and gives attentive assistance. The wonderful breakfast just fit in ... Very Highly Recommended!!

Everything. This is an exceptional oasis in the heart of Peloponnese, representing the true essence of Greek hospitality. From the room to the breakfast, from the garden to the restaurant, the place is a mix of traditional architecture with a modern presentation of the wildlife to be found in the Greek forests. Breakfast was awesome, and so was the overall experience. We will definitely go again.

Patra is a town full of University students that makes it a very live, fun town. There is a great balance of nightlife, city culture, sea and country experiences available. The Castle on the top of the hill is a must see as is the Roman Odeon. The best was walking down the main strip on a Friday night. The city was alive with people having a fabulous night out. Shopping, cafes and restaurants galore. Make sure you go when the Universities are running as you may have a very different experience.

The town is a tourist base. Not particularly interesting or pleasant. We only went for the railway trip, but unfortunately it was cancelled on the two days we were there, due to falling rocks on the line. This doesn't happen very often apparently...we were just unlucky. There are cave lakes to visit but we didn't do that. The car journey to the town is wonderful both ways - from Dimitsana and Diakopto.

There isn't really much to Rio.

There isn't really much to Rio. It used to be where the ferries crossed to go to the North of Greece. The area to the right of the bridge as you go down has many restaurants and bars along the beach and the locals go swimming there a lot. On the other side to the left of the bridge there are again many nice restaurants and bars. One of the restaurants we went to was perfect. The Nafto oikos. They were fully booked but found a table for us by the kitchen and the food was exceptional. Rio is great if you are visiting Patras or on a stopover. There isn't really much to do there long term.

It was nice, quiet and not too touristy which made the trip more relaxing. The bakery's were really nice and everything you needed could be found in the town easily. We had a friend with a car whilst we were there which made it easier to go out and have days out as it was a bit far out from some places, but we liked that about it

From here, you can use a bus to reach Kiato, Corinth and Athens very cheaply. It is a beautiful town with nice monuments and ancient traditions. Pleasant city, active nightlife, many shops and excellent cuisine. From the Gulf of Patra you enter the Peloponnese. It is the right place to start a trip to Greece if you arrive by ferry from Italy, either with your own vehicle or simply on foot.

Lovely town with wide spaces, friendly people and some compelling history attached to it from the Holocaust and the Greek Independence . Great meal at a local restaurant that was delicious and very traditional. Unfortunately it is difficult to get around without a car and taxis are way too expensive. To get to Ayia Lavra which is 4 kms away they wanted 20 euro up and back. In the end we didn't go to any monastery. They should have buses that go up and back, at least during the tourist season

Rio, a serene coastal town, is peacefully situated 8...

Rio, a serene coastal town, is peacefully situated 8 kilometres northeast of Patras in western Greece. Cradled at the base of Mount Panachaikon and gasing over the Gulf of Corinth, Rio offers a tranquil haven, blending natural beauty, historical significance, and modern amenities. The Rio-Antirrio Bridge, a symbol of modern engineering, is one of the town's most iconic landmarks. As one of the longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges, it elegantly connects the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece. Its construction is a testament to human ingenuity and it offers stunning views, especially at sunset, making it a must-see for history enthusiasts. Rio is renowned for its inviting beaches, where visitors can indulge in swimming, sunbathing, and various water sports in the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea. The town also proudly hosts the Castle of Rio, a historic fortress with a rich 15th-century legacy that has significantly shaped the region's history. Staying in Rio offers a peaceful retreat from the city of Patras, with the added advantage of being close enough to enjoy its vibrant nightlife, shopping, and cultural attractions. The town provides a range of accommodations, from comfortable hotels to cosy apartments, and traditional tavernas serving mouthwatering Greek cuisine, ensuring a delightful stay for every visitor. Additionally, Rio is home to parts of the University of Patras and its hospital, contributing to a lively academic atmosphere. Its strategic location makes it an excellent base for exploring the wider region, including trips to archaeological sites like Delphi and Olympia and picturesque coastal towns. Whether you're seeking relaxation by the sea, a taste of Greek history, or a convenient hub for regional exploration, Rio provides an inviting destination that caters to various interests.
