The cabin was nestled into the jungle, overlooking a beautiful jungle view and natural waterfall fed pool. We saw monkeys from our balcony as well! The restaurant sells lovely food which was great value for money, with a great selection for vegetarians. The staff were so lovely and made us feel so welcome. If you are interested in doing the jungle treks in Bukit Lawang, we cannot recommend the jungle guide enough. We did the 2 day 1 night tour, and it was one of the best things we have ever done. Yosia and Adam were beyond great, they knew so much about the jungle and were so kind and funny. Rio was an amazing cook and made some of the best food we have had in Indonesia ( you will never go hungry ). Cannot recommend the trek enough, especially if you’re lucky enough to do it with Yosia and Adam!

fantastic accommodation, extended our stay. The most beautiful room we have had in Sumatra. With the best beds! The accommodation was like a fairy land cottage. Location very close to town centre, but a bit of a walk up a hill. Didn't worry us as had scooters. Very handy to many local attractions. Can't emphasize how lovely the rooms were. Situated in the middle of very picturesque rice paddy fields.

Wati, Lawrence and the team were super hospitable. They went out of their way to organise transportation to and from Krui, and shared many meals and laughs with them. I felt as if I were an extension of their family. The food was delicious and if you wanted anything that wasn’t on the menu they would arrange this for me. They were also super helpful with local tourist destinations.

Sam’s Bungalows is quiet and isolated. You stay at the top of this narrow way that locate most of the tourist housing in Bukit Lawang. Therefore you will find lots of local restaurants while listening to jungle sounds. Sam’s kitchen is definitely one of the best, the food is excellent and the service provided is really good. We also used their taxi service from Medan airport. Perfect stay in Bukit Lawang!

Amazing views, staff is very friendly. It was a nice time - staff who played guitar and sang - that was something totally amazing :-) In addition, great organization of trekking in search of orangutans - it worked!!! I recommend it to all who like contact with nature.

Great hotel, great breakfast buffet - wide selection of dishes. Large bright rooms with balcony overlooking the mountains and two large swimming pools, I recommend this hotel. Very easy booking and helpful staff. We had the opportunity to meet the General Manager of the hotel and all the staff, who were at our disposal all the time. They helped us organize trips around the area - we are impressed by such friendly staff. Greetings to all the hotel staff. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in Indonesia.

We liked walking through the village away from the other...

We liked walking through the village away from the other tourists, observing life in Bukit Lawang. The local people were genuinely friendly and helpful. Trekking in the jungle was excellent. We had a very knowledgeable guide who explained many things to us about the plants, animals and the history of the national park.

We were there chiefly to see family friends, but it was also a good base from which to visit amazing wildlife reserves; Bukit Lawang for the orangutans is an absolute must, and I'd also strongly recommend the Tangkahan elephant sanctuary.

Basically Padang is for people who probably finds food...

Basically Padang is for people who probably finds food hunting their choice of travel. For me, going to Padang was a gateway to Kerinci, for the mountain hike. Padang in itself did not have much sightseeing places to offer but perhaps we did not take the island tours or any waterfall visits. Overall, it's a nice small place to chill and relax.

Sabang itself has not much to offer more than one-day visits, but all the surrounding places on the island are worth a whole week. You just need the right plan or hire a guide. It is super cheap and fast.

Great place to escape the heat. Temperatures stay around 20 degrees. Friendly people and good food. Enjoyed hiking up Gundaling Hill for an awesome view. I ate mainly at street stalls which are clean and safe. Beautiful view of the volcanoes. You can get closer but we were short of time so we didn't

A typical Sumatran city.

A typical Sumatran city. Overcrowded, dirty, largely derelict, and poorly maintained. Not a place to stay in for long, it seems to me. Wisely, l was just passing through so I have no idea of the local "attractions", but I doubt whether there are any. Getting around is best achieved on the back of a Gojek bike.

Bukit lawang is a beautiful location with too many places to see and activities to fit into a short trip. Not just the tours/treks and animal spotting, but plenty of cafe/restaurants/bars to check out. Jack’s Bar seems to frequently have live music on saturdays. Note, that a couple of the treks can be difficult for inexperienced hikers, with some steep and slippery sections, so do confirm with your host/guide before whether a particular trek will suit you.

I love shopping in medan especially their coffee, tea and the medicine. The foods is depend. Not all is delicious. If dare to eat can pick hawker stall foods is much better than the restaurant foods.
