I absolutely loved Galway.
I absolutely loved Galway. It is centrally located for some interesting tours. Best of all, Galway itself is just so full of history and things to do and learn. The feeling or vibe of Galway is very nice and laid back. All the people in Ireland have been very nice, but I have to admit, the people in Galway seem to go that extra step. Overall, Galway is a wonderful city to experience.

Sligo is sometimes overlooked in favour of other tourist hotspots in Ireland, but it is an excellent place to visit. It has a thriving town centre with shopping, pubs, restaurants and a particularly good coffee culture. The town is just a 10 minute drive from both Rosses Point and Strandhill, two gorgeous seaside villages with very different vibes.
If you have your own transport, then venture outside of the town too and catch some of the amazing scenery in the county. My recommendations of places to go include Gleniff Horseshoe, Lissadell Beach (real hidden gem), Mullaghmore, Drumcliffe Church, Enniscrone and Easkey in the west of the county, and Glencar Waterfall just across the county border in Leitrim.

A great town, great food, bars, shopping. People v helpful and full of info. We climbed croagh Patrick which was fantastic, something i always wanted to do. Before going up there make sure you bring spare clothes, socks, shoes - weather c as n change in an a second and give yourself plenty of time to do it!
Had great coffee in this is not the place, lovely food Im O’Malleys and drinks in molloys. Short visit but well worth it!

Athlone is nice for a short visit. It had special interest for me as I lived there 45 years ago. Not everyone will have that level of interest. Lots of great pubs and restaurants. I remember it was a great place at weekends. I bet it still is.

It is a nice area. We would have liked to have visited the beach on Sunday morning but it was raining. We had been told how beautiful the beach is so we just a look on the Monday morning. Looks like you need to book for the popular places.

A good town with plenty of shops and businesses with a great location by the River Moy. We shopped in Dunnes Store and Shaws both excellent for value and quality of goods. We ate our evening meal in Dillans in Dillans Terrace and had a superb meal there. Great stay in the Lodge in a family room with 3 beds and an EXCELLENT en suite shower room with all mod cons

All this area has a beautiful landscape with a mixture of new and old, rural yet always near towns and villages. Easy access by main roads but also along quiet lanes. It's inland but only a short drive to the coast or Shannon waterways.

The cottage was very well equipped and stocked. Every single detail was taken care of by the property owners. From the kitchen being well stocked with utensils, cuttlery, foil and butter paper rolls, tea coffee, you think of it and there it was. The fridge had the basics stocked as well. There were different types of power adaptors, spare light bulbs. It was like just move in and start living. Will love to go back again, fantastic location, serene surroundings! What more can you ask for!!
