Truly exceptional property, from the friendliness of the staff, the ambience in the room we had, right through to the delightful breakfast experience (me with a little Italian and the staff member with no English!), conversing with a gentleman who fed us well and provided some excellent restaurant recommendations.

Beautiful spot at the start of the Trebbia valley overlooking the plains below. Great parking, huge room with wonderful working stove. Good food in the restaurant and a lovely little spa and pool very welcome in February. Lovely terrace and outdoor pool for summer. Staff were delightful and could not have been more helpful

The grandeur of the castle, the beautifully preserved architecture, and the breathtaking surroundings created an unforgettable first impression. The food was absolutely divine. From rich, locally inspired dishes to indulgent desserts, the dining experience was a highlight of our stay. The drinks menu was just as impressive, with expertly crafted cocktails and a wonderful selection of wines. What made the trip even more special was how welcoming and exciting it was for our children. Sleeping in a real castle was a dream come true for them! They were completely enchanted by the historic rooms, winding staircases, and the sense of adventure that came with every corner of the property. The staff made sure they felt just as pampered and special as the adults, which we deeply appreciated. This was more than just a hotel stay—it was an experience filled with wonder, luxury, and warm hospitality. We can’t wait to return and relive the magic all over again.

Charming hotel, a couple of steps from the centre of Salso Maggiore. Super clean bathroom, spacious bed room, wonderful and varied breakfast. Roberta and her brother do a fantastic job and take such care of their guests. We stayed just one night, en route from Abruzzo to Alsace, France, but it is a lovely relaxing stop over. We slept so well, the area is tranquil..yet restaurants, bars etc are just a short walk away. We will be back, it's a lovely hotel

This hotel, as part of a castle off the beaten path is a romantic unique experience. I have taken guests there more than once. Love the VIBE. On this trip, we were the only guests and we felt like royalty! Though the dining room was closed, Reservations at the Castle tavern were made for us at our preferred hour of dining. Earlier than normal in Italy. The breakfast was a fabulous spread! i highly recommend this very charming spot.

Excellent quality for a reasonable price. Rooms are comfortable and staff is friendly. Convenient free parking, so good place to stay when you come by car (otherwise it would not be the best location for a visit to the centre of town that is five minutes away by car, but poorly connected by public transport).

A charming small city to visit, perfect for 2 days particularly if you like finding out about history, art and culture; food was good, as we found in all the places we stayed in Italy and all at a reasonable price.

The location is wonderful! We also liked the breakfast. Our room was big and roomy with a small balcony which was perfect. We had a room with two Queen beds which were the best sleep ever and very comfortable. The Spa surpassed my expectations! I only wish we had a longer stay so that I could enjoy more treatments. Dinner was average and I think that the restaurant could step up its quality; however, we visited in April which is low season. The only negative is the waiter/bartender provided great service but his body odor was overwhelming.

I can honestly say that there was nothing we didn't like...

I can honestly say that there was nothing we didn't like about Agriturismo Arte Contadina. We needed a place to stay overnight on the way further south, and it was so beautiful and welcoming that I would have liked to stay longer. Francesca is warm and friendly, the rooms are spotless and nicely designed, the grounds are postcard perfect. I can't say enough about it. We had a wonderful experience and the room had everything we needed.

It was a nice experience because it’s close to many things...

It was a nice experience because it’s close to many things for example, me and my partner wanted to go to qc terme in Salsomaggiore, so we chose tabiano which is close and we also stayed in an amazing place and ate amazing food at the restaurant next to the castle. So, it was two birds with one stone

Situated at a quiet location just outside the village this hotel offers all that we needed, a lovely spacious family suite with a wonderful central balcony, staff were great and very helpful and the breakfast was exceptional. Fantastic location too close to the motorway for travelling south the first week and returning north the second week. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area between Parma and Bologna,

We went to Borgo Val di Taro for 2.5 days to attend the annual Porcini Mushroom Festival held on two weekends in September. Great fun with mostly local attendees, some Italians from a bit farther away and hardly any Americans or Germans. Prices for food and drink were very reasonable considering it was a festival. We had several porcini mushroom dishes prepared in different ways and also other good food mostly eaten outside at communal tables. Everyone friendly and we felt entertained for two full days--would recommend this festival to anyone who likes porcini mushrooms and local cheeses of a wide variety.

i loved the narrow streets, and the beautiful shops that lined them. I also enjoyed going for a tour of the opera house which was lovely - although bereft of any opera - ( if they organised a opera singer just to perform an aria for a short time I am sure people would Happily pay an extra fee to hear the acoustics and the aria). I also went to a wonderful restaurant - if you are looking fro something beyond pizza etc and that was called Forchetta - my best dining and drinking experience in Italy!

Salso is a small town, nearest notable towns are Parma and Modena. The surrounding countryside is pretty awesome with castles and cheese/ham factories The town was renowned for it thermal spa baths. Now in 2024 unfortunately the town seems to be a dormitory town, with slightly passe hotels and possibly no spas. The main spa is about to have a major major overhaul and refurbishment, to be completed within the next few years. Work has already started. However, there a some nice shops and cafes, and very good restaurants. The weather was not kind to us and it was damp and cool (April would normally be warm).

The place is beautiful and well kept. Rooms great! Breakfast was phenomenal and the settings for both breakfast and dinner were amazing. The dinner wasn't anything special but the ambience makes up for the average food.
