Hotel Chevalier was fantastic. It was in a wonderful location close to the main street but still quiet. The rooms were very comfortable and the view was breathtaking. Above all, the customer service was exceptional. Our bags were delayed during our trip to Sicily and Alex went above and beyond to help us navigate the system. We will be back!

Giardini-Naxos and the surrounding towns are, however, unusually dirty, with a lot of litter scattered along the streets. The beach, on the other hand, has wonderfully clean and clear water. People are helpful. Traveling around, take time. The only rush is in traffic. If you travel by rental car, it helps to have a good map reader in the passenger seat and a calm mind. Honking is simply a part of the traffic culture. A motorcyclist may pass you on either the right or the left. Focus on the traffic is the most important thing. When choosing a rental car, you should go for one with medium power. Otherwise, it may not make it up the hills. We had a Toyota Yaris 1500 Petrol Hybrid Automatic. It was ok. An automatic gearbox makes driving easier.

Letojanni is a charming coastal village located in Sicily, Italy, known for its stunning beaches and picturesque views of the Mediterranean Sea. My recent visit to Letojanni was nothing short of magical, offering a perfect blend of relaxation, culture, and culinary delights. Letojanni’s location, just a short distance from Taormina, makes it an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Additionally, the locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing a warm atmosphere that made me feel at home. The village's small size allows for leisurely strolls through charming streets filled with local shops and boutiques, perfect for picking up souvenirs.

It is a beautiful little mountain top village.

It is a beautiful little mountain top village. Nice hike/walk down to Taormina or easy bus if you wish. Great place to relax. I would worry about it being even more overrun with tourists in peak season but it makes sense why. If you drive by car and are not comfortable with small, steep roads - take some anxiety meds and take your time!

A down-to-earth beach town with none of the glitz and glitter of Taormina. Nice enough beaches, crystal clear water and a few beach bars where you can eat. Perfect stay away from busy Taormina, with hourly bus-service. Ristorante Arco Rosso was our favourite restaurant.

Taormina, perched on the cliffs of Sicily’s eastern coast,...

Taormina, perched on the cliffs of Sicily’s eastern coast, is one of Italy’s most enchanting destinations. Here’s what makes it so great: Breathtaking Views Taormina offers spectacular views of Mount Etna (Europe’s most active volcano), the Ionian Sea, and nearby Isola Bella — a picturesque little island connected by a narrow beach strip. Ancient Greek Theatre The Teatro Antico di Taormina is a remarkably well-preserved Greek-Roman amphitheatre. It’s still used today for concerts and performances, with Mount Etna as a dramatic backdrop. Rich History Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, and Norman influences are all present. You’ll find a unique blend of architecture, ruins, and medieval charm throughout the town. Romantic Atmosphere Taormina’s narrow, flower-lined streets, boutique hotels, and scenic terraces make it ideal for couples, artists, or anyone looking for a peaceful, beautiful escape. Sicilian Food & Wine Enjoy local dishes like arancini, caponata, and granita. The area is also known for its fantastic wines, especially Etna Rosso, thanks to the fertile volcanic soil. Beaches Taormina has gorgeous beaches like Mazzarò and Isola Bella. With clear turquoise water and good snorkeling, they’re perfect for relaxing or swimming. Stylish Shopping Corso Umberto, the main street, is packed with designer boutiques, local artisan shops, charming cafés, and gelaterias. Strategic Location Taormina is a great base for day trips to Mount Etna, Catania, Syracuse, or even the Aeolian Islands — offering a mix of adventure and relaxation.

Giardini Naxos is a bus ride away from Taormina. We enjoyed this quiet town, the restaurants were good, especially Trattoria da Lino. The beaches are stunning, even though they mostly have little stones, the water was clean and refreshing!

We really enjoyed our stay in Letojanni.

We really enjoyed our stay in Letojanni. It is on the main railway line up and down the east coast with good bus connections too. Letojanni has an extensive, uncrowded and mostly sandy beach with many cafe's and eating places along the front, generally at very reasonable prices. Taormina is only a few minutes away on the bus which is definitely worth visiting, but, in contrast, it is very expensive and very busy compared with Letojanni. Letojanni is, therefore, great for a relaxing stay, but also, it has good connections to get to other places in eastern Sicily. Definitely recommended.

    Quiet and quaint village.

Quiet and quaint village. The views are amazing, there are the basic shops like pharmacy and grocer in case you need something. The only downside is the frequency of the busses out of Castelmola. The first one is about 6.30am-7am to go to Taormina, and then the next one is 10am. Most shops open around 10am, except for the cafe in the piazza and the pharmacy, which open earlier. You can get anywhere in Castelmola on foot. There is also il sentiero dei Saraceni which takes you on foot to Taormina. It is a steep walk down so prepare comfortable shoes if you plan on taking this walk.
