As soon as you walk in, you are met with a very traditional interior where you must remove your shoes to place in lockers to then proceed onto the tatami mat flooring. The rooms are small but very stylised to tatami-floored japanese rooms. You're given plenty of towels and robes, and the air con is good. The onsens are the real stars of the show, and are amazing after a day of walking. Hot, cold, saunas, the lot. You also get free ice pops, and free ramen late in the evening, whilst you also get yoghurt drinks in the morning.

What a fantastic stay at the Kaname Inn! I have to say everything was perfect. I originally planned to stay 5 nights but added on an extra 2 when the weather turned bad, and it was really cozy. The location was excellent within walking distance of the major sites and near lots of restaurants. Easy to get to from the station - only 3 stops on the bus. Every single one of the staff were charming and so helpful. It was lovely to see such friendly welcoming faces every day. My room was spacious and the bed and pillows very comfortable (not hard like other Japanese beds) and had a sofa in it which was excellent for relaxing. There was a minifridge cups and a kettle. The bathroom had a good sized bath. It was all sparkling clean. An added bonus was the bar which had really excellent food and drinks (I got some coupons for drinks for electing not to have my room cleaned thoroughly every day). Plus the DJ played excellent vinyl every night. Finally the price was extremely reasonable. This was my second visit to Kanazawa and my first to Kaname. It won't be my last, I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

It was a long drive up the Noto Peninsula and we had to drive along a narrow road through a short stretch of forest before we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful facade of the hotel. The entire stay was a pampering experience. The view from the room was amazing. Both dinner and breakfast were exquisitely prepared and served in private rooms. We had a 50 min private bath which was extremely soothing. There were small zen gardens, libraries in a corner, and cupboards full of yukatas of different colors and designs. These were very pleasant to the eyes. I also liked how courteous and attentive the hotel staff were.

Location near railway station through an upmarket shopping complex. The hotel encourages a friendly experience. You are allowed to use the facilities within the hotel while wearing there provided pyjamas. From the onsen to the free ramen served each night in the restaurant starting 9.30pm, PJ wearing guests give you an inclusive feeling. The room was a good size. Also provided free icecream, free coffee, yakult, and ice on he onsen floor. Good service extra pillows provided on request. Wish we had a longer stay there.

Loved the historical areas which were so easy to get to via the loop buses as well as local buses or on foot. The castle and gardens and surrounding area could be a day in themselves. The samurai district was fabulous and so easy to navigate. The Chaya district was my favourite. There were so many surprises around every corner and very walkable. I also took a trip out to Kurobe Gorge - bullet train to Kurobe Unazukionsen then local train to Unazuki then mining train to Nekomata - stunning views.

The main attraction at Kaga are the Onsen towns. Best to visit with a car. The towns are charming with lots of coffee and cake cafes and lacquerware shops. Not many places to get proper meals. Forest walk along the river is very pretty. This place is very quiet with very few people around.

Komatsu is a nice place. Great view of the mountains. Kind of a sleepy town. Other than the 'snack - men's bar' places near the station the town really does go to sleep early. Did not really eat anywhere interesting, super markets and conbini. Was there once for the child kabuki frestival. That cannot be beat!

The seaside accomodation was just as advertised. The host was helpful and a delight. She made sure we had a lovely 2 nights there. The glass gallery is world class and the architecture special and suited to its location. The aquarium was disappointing. Show was good but the maintenance of the facility needs work.

If you love the seafood, you should come to Kanazawa and visiting the Omicho Market to have their speciality - Kaisendon (The rice bowls are generously topped with ultra-fresh seafoods) . And must try the gold leaf ice cream of Kanazawa. If you love historic Japanese culture, you need to visit the castle park ,the old town and the samurai district. And the Kenrokuen garden is a must see for landscape lovers. You can check https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2167.html, which has very good information about Kanazawa.

This stay was absolutely lovely!

This stay was absolutely lovely! We were looking for a more traditional Japanese home in a smaller town - and this was it! I believe the owner said it was 130 years old but they've made great, modern renovations in the kitchen, bathrooms, and more. The beds were so comfortable (and heated). As for the owners, we've never stayed at a home with more hospitable and helpful hosts. We were interested in the history of everything in the the area. They gave us a tour of the home itself, took us on a walk to the beautiful stream across the street and the shrine a block up the road. Everything was picturesque. He even taught my son how to cook a Japanese treat from the garden. My children also thoroughly enjoyed playing with their children and the many Montessori-style toys in the home. It is also about a 10-15 minute drive to various stores. Very convenient. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and if we're ever back in the area, we would love to stay again!
