The Kaname Inn on Tatemachi Street in Kanazawa is a super little hotel and is a great place to stay in Kanazawa. First impressions are good as the staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient, the room and in fact the whole hotel was very clean and well maintained, it's in a good location for an easy 10 minute walk to the museum of modern art yet it's on one of the main shopping streets too, and the bar is great fun. Furthermore the room was a good size for a twin bed room, and the air con unit was super quiet. This might sound like a small detail but the night before we stayed in a hotel with a standard type air con unit and the difference was notable, and we slept so well during our stay at the Kaname Inn. We think the price we paid for the room was very reasonable indeed and we highly recommend it.

Dormy Inn Kanazawa Natural Hot Spring is one of those rare places where everything simply works. It’s right next to the station, which immediately makes traveling easier. But the real heart of the hotel is the onsen — well designed, with a rooftop area and a sauna. A space where your body finally catches up with the pace of the journey. After the onsen, there’s complimentary ice cream in several flavors. Coffee. In the morning, a free probiotic drink — simple and genuinely good. Late at night, free soba. These details don’t feel like marketing; they feel like care. Breakfast costs 2,500 yen, and it’s absolutely worth it. Fish prepared in different ways, interesting side dishes, everything beautifully presented and delicious. The apple mochi were especially memorable — juicy, fresh, and perfectly balanced. On the second day, it rained nonstop. That’s when the hotel umbrella quietly became one of the most useful things I had. Dormy Inn Kanazawa is about attention to detail and respect for the guest. No unnecessary words — just the feeling that someone thought of everything in advance.

The room was exceptionally spacious and cleaned daily. Everything was spotless throughout our stay and the bed was very comfortable. We especially appreciated the complimentary drip coffee and the high-quality toiletries provided by the hotel. The location was another big advantage, with many attractions and points of interest within easy walking distance. Overall, the hotel offers outstanding value for money. We highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again!

We have stayed in Kanazawa for one night, next day travelling to the north of Honsu by Shinkansen. Hotel was perfectly located next to train station and 15 min from Omicho market and 30 min form Kenrokumachi park. Rooms were spacious and modern. Breakfast offers typical Japanese food, but also wide international offer. Staff was very kind, let us to the rooms even before official check-in.

Excellent stay, and the view of the bay from the room was amazing. Both meals were delicious, and we had them in a private room. Also, there were a few private baths. The service staff were amiable and helpful. It is worth a trip to this remote area of the Noto Peninsula.

The food culture here is top.

The food culture here is top. We didn’t get to see the samurai district, so I would have liked to have had one more day. The geisha district was so pretty and we found a great bar there. Super walkable, easy to find amazing food, and just a relaxing vibe overall.

Kaga appears ti be declining.

Kaga appears ti be declining. There ae some gems to be found like the museum of ice and snow. It is a great shame that the fountain in the lake has not been working for some time. I think that either the local authorities or a consortium of businesses need to tidy up the derelict properties and generally keep tidy the streets and lanes as is the case elsewhere in Japan

Komatsu is a nice place. Great view of the mountains.

Komatsu is a nice place. Great view of the mountains. Kind of a sleepy town. Other than the 'snack - men's bar' places near the station the town really does go to sleep early. Did not really eat anywhere interesting, super markets and conbini. Was there once for the child kabuki frestival. That cannot be beat!

The seaside accomodation was just as advertised.

The seaside accomodation was just as advertised. The host was helpful and a delight. She made sure we had a lovely 2 nights there. Rooms were well presented and large with amenities that were first rate. The glass manufacture workshop and the glass museum were well woth the trip. The glass gallery is world class and the architecture special and suited to its location. The aquarium was disappointing. Show was good but the maintenance of the facility needs work.

The main attraction at Kaga are the Onsen towns. Best to visit with a car. The towns are charming with lots of coffee and cake cafes and lacquerware shops. Not many places to get proper meals. Forest walk along the river is very pretty. This place is very quiet with very few people around.

Lovely small spa town.

Lovely small spa town. Delightful to walk on the path near the gorge - moss everywhere. The town has shops of wood products and lacquerware - a refreshing change from cookies and trinkets. Monday is when many restaurants are closed - so plan ahead if you are there that day.
