The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Imari Train Station, with a very homey feel with friendly staff. We arrived via SHOWA Bus from Fukuoka Airport (approx. 2 hours 30 minutes - bought our tickets at the airport). The bus stopped at Imari Station, making access convenient. Room was spacious, with two double beds, a sitting area with TV, and a kitchen with a full-size fridge/freezer, microwave, and stovetop. The bathroom had a washer/dryer, and laundry detergent was available near reception for 100 yen. Entry to the building via a security card, adding an extra level of convenience and safety. The river behind the hotel made for a quiet and scenic walk, perfect for relaxing in the evening.Max Value Supermarket near Imari Station is open 24 hours. The best ramen in Imari is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, near KFC.

We were greeted immediately with umbrellas and a smiley guest executive when we arrived at the hotel car park. We had a nice welcome drink and they made sure to give us a good introduction of the hotel facilities before we headed to our room. The receptionists were always ready to greet us with our keys when we arrived back at the hotel from touring the area. They have a beautifully maintained onsen (indoor and outdoor) with super silky waters that feel great on the skin. The rooms are quite spacious as well and they provide us these beautifully printed cookies of Arita porcelain designs in the room as well as green tea leaves as part of their service. We appreciated the nice hygiene amenities in the bathroom. The hotel is on a pretty steep hill so it is hidden away fr the Main Street but there are many eateries and tea shops within walking distance. Bonus - they are partnered with another nearby onsen hotel and we could use their onsen facilities for free as guests. We had a great time staying there.

The room is very comfortable and has all the facilities one needs. It is brightly lit and I have no problem doing my readings on my bed. The bathroom is a nice surprise with a suitably sized bathtub and a stool which makes one feel like in a private onsen. The projector is another great surprise. Its projection on the wall is sharp and bright. The beds and the pillows are perfect and we have a good sleep. The microwave oven enables us to reheat food for breakfast. Everything is so nice for this price!

Everything. The cute and comfy yukata. The traditional Japanese style room had a nice retro vibe, with a traditional low table and sliding doors separating the main room from the small one with the river view. First of all, the design of the room is dreamy and so smart! The room has a lot of light, is totally silent despite being a meter away from shinkansens and you just feel like a human being, not a beaten tourist being thrown about in tiny compact hotel rooms for once:) They have a lovely game where you explore local shops and restaurants closeby, which we all totally recommend, you can rent a bike next to the hotel. Overall Ureshino onsen was one of the highlights of our Kyushu trip and I appreciate Fairfield hospitality. Oh and don’t miss their comfy and stylish lounge with lovely tea and miso soup!

The staff could not have been more helpful. I had a medical issue and a lady at reception arranged help for me. The hotel is only about an 8 minute walk from Imari Station where the Fukuoka Showa Bus also arrives and departs. There is a lovely Izakaya (pub) right next to the hotel car park and an Aeon supermarket nearby. The best thing is their buffet breakfast. A large choice of freshly prepared food with menu specials that change daily. There is a coffee and soft drink bar in the lobby. You can catch a train on the Matsuura Railway line from Imari to Arita but there is only one per hour. It is only a 15 minute bus ride to the pottery village of Okawachiyama but use the timetable outside Imari Station to plan your trip. Only ¥200 each way.

This hotel really surprised us and it would have to be one of my top 5 hotels that I have ever stayed at. The size of the room was just HUGE with a large balcony and an amazing bathroom. The sparkling water/sea views from both the bathtub/bathroom and the main living area were just amazing. There was a lounge suite in the spacious room and 2 King size beds (with trundle beds underneath). The fridge was stocked with complimentary drinks replaced daily and the dinner buffet is one of the best I've had. Unfortunately as our stay was so short we didn't get to use many of the facilities :(

I'd strongly recommend taking the time to ensure that the accommodation you're booking is close enough to any specific areas you wish to visit. Saga itself, is simply a township without too many attractions other than a museum, a castle and a couple of short, pretty walks. If you want to see something further afield, such as Arita or Imari (located in the Saga region), be prepared for quite a bit of travel. Even places to stay near these areas are several kilometers away.

Ureshino is famous for the green tea and the onsen. The Ureshino Tea Exchange musuem is 100% worth a visit and don't forget to drink a tea in the cafe! It is amazing quality and very cheap (300 yen for 1 tea) Then I would also recommend Fuji restaurant, they make great Okonomiyake, Yakisoba and many more dishes! Staff is amazing! If you have a car drive up to the mountain to visit the tea fields, 100 % worth it!

Takeo and Ureshino are getaway destinations more geared towards couples. I would not recommend going as a solo traveler. It's also more convenient to get around with a car, but even then, it's a little hard to find parking in the towns. If I'm being honest, there really isn't much to do in these towns compared to the bigger cities in Kyushu. However, locals in Saga are very nice and I did get some of the most affordable and best tasting sushi I've had in Japan while in Ureshino. I was able to try shirako for the first time and it was delicious. The sushi master also gave me a kujira-zushi for free and it was the best kujira I've ever had. So, getting to try those was probably the highlight of my time in Saga.

The Ekimae Real Estate Stadium, home of Sagan Tosu, might be the easiest stadium anywhere to get to, if you fancy watching a bit of J2 football. Leave Tosu station, cross the footbridge over the railway, enter the stadium. That's as easy as it gets. For (pre) history fans, the Yoshinogari Historical Park is just a few stops back down the same railway line. If you're into archaeology and like a walk, you'll have a good day out. The park is extensive - bring shoes you can walk in! There is parking there if you're driving.

One of the most comfortable places we have stayed in, in a very long time. Spotlessly clean. Fresh flowers, snacks on arrival. Clean, beyond comparison. This is not a place to stay if you want city life. It is a super quiet village. The observatory behind the house is one of the best cherry blossom destinations we have been to. We spent 2 hours there and we were the only people on the mountain. Spectacular.

This is the ceramics capital of Japan and has been so for hundreds of years. Its main street is full of ceramics shops selling locally produced ceramics. Nakayama Touwado (https://nakayama-touwado.storeinfo.jp/) was one we particularly liked. The Kyushu Ceramics museum (which has full interpretation in both Japanese and English) is well worth a visit: its collections are impressive! It is a small and walkable place, and very different from big-city Japan.

I did an overnight trip to Takeo, and it was great - the Takeo shrine and Public library are right next to each other, and both are worth the visit. We loved being able to visit some of the kilns and see how the porcelain is made. As well as showrooms, some makers had museums showing older pieces of their work. The Kyushu Ceramic Museum had fabulous pieces on display and good explanations on the processes involved. The locals were very friendly and helpful and pleased to have visitors interested in their porcelain.
