One of the best places I have ever stayed. The house and garden are very clean, the food and wine are delicious. The staff are very nice and always smiling, they will help you with anything. You can swim in the pool, sunbathe in the garden. There is a high level of security in the accommodation and in the area, even if you are travelling alone. The house is very cosy and homely. If I go back to Nairobi again, I will definitely stay here again Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Drexel House was very welcoming and its location in Karen is great - an oasis of calm in a busy city. As soon as you enter the gates, the noise of the city seems far away, and you feel relaxed and peaceful. The gardens are wonderful and we enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast. The breakfast options were great, and the team was very helpful in preparing snacks for us when we arrived late at night. Jeremy is super helpful, proactive and friendly, and made our stay very comfortable. We left a personal item behind in our room, and he was very solicitous in helping us retrieve it. We will definitely come back when we are next in Nairobi.

We stayed for over 10 days; Location: Just across the river south-bordering the Nairobi National park, Masai lodge is against a steep cliff, lots of little steps and mud style modernized bungalows. The road to get there can be tough, corrugated road, But forget all that you see... the staff there made up all the difference! From the folks at dining, bar, pool or reception, youre always greeted with a smile and service excellence. The food tasted... incredible. You have to wait a very long time to receive your order, as we found out later, everything is hand prepared and we would fly back just to go dine there again. From the meat to the salads and beyond, not one meal failed to impress our tastebuds to the limit! We'd find ourselves enjoying the evening view of baboons jumping between trees, only to be served dinner and drinks way outside the dining area. The staff surprised us with a candle lit pathway to our own bonfire dinner with a private table and guard, and to top it off: We enjoyed several safari walks with the masai tribesmen around the area, tracking lion, peopard, rhino and buffalo footsteps as well as organised Safari trips to the Nairobi as well as Amboseli parks. Wifi was strong enough for work meetings in between and the whole area safe enough to sit outside until your only battle left is against the mosquitos, at least until youre in the room, where the nets do 100% to keep them away. The Masai Lodge exceeded at all expectations, and across all our travels, remain the most human one, with all the people that made it special. We still share our fond memories months later and has certainly helped in deciding to come back to kenya and stay there again!

Everything was great. We loved our first stay after arrival so much that we booked a second stay at the end of our trip. The way we were welcomed by Shadrack and his team (Nelson, Julius and Jacinta, among others)on arrival, the top service we received all through both our stays. The flexibility of the staff whenever we needed support, for instance, with having a bite when we arrived at 1AM in the night because of a flight delay. Watching giraffes, ostriches, etc right from the hotel room was a surreal experience. One made even more spectacular because we had brought our Vortex binoculars. The rooms and facilities were really nice and the fact that you can freely go to the rooftop of their sister hotel gave us the feeling of even more freedom. I personally really liked the atmosfeer that is a result of the type of fellow guests that were also present. Nice crowd. The food and drinks are excellent too. Ask Julius for his mixed chai. Yum! Really delicious bacon too. Yum! Yum! Oh yes! and of course, very efficient location if you don’t want to drive long to or from JKIA. Will be back!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hemingways Nairobi and it was the perfect way to both start and end my trip to Kenya. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional — every member of the staff was warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Communication before and during the stay was always easy and efficient, which made everything completely stress-free. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, with every detail feeling elegant and well maintained. The gardens and overall surroundings are stunning and perfectly kept, creating such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It truly feels like a luxury retreat in the middle of Nairobi. The food was also outstanding throughout my stay, with excellent quality, great variety, and consistently amazing service in the restaurant. Hemingways Nairobi made such a strong impression on me that I chose to stay there both at the beginning and at the end of my Kenya trip — and I would absolutely love to come back again in the future. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Nairobi.

Nairobi is a large and busy city, there are so many parts to see. I think 2-3 days is plenty of time to be in the city. Things I wish I knew before visiting were; if you are traveling as a family the CBD is probably not the best place to stay. We were hoping to walk around the explore the city, but were warned by various Kenyans not to walk around CBD at night, not to use cell phone in the open, and to take off my wedding ring when walking around. We loved the hotel we stayed at and it was very easy to take ubers to various sites, but would have liked to feel safe walking around. The air quality is not very good, so if you have family members who are sensitive to that then you should stay outside the city. Nairobi is a fascinating city and my family had a great time.

Safety is the best of Karen.

Safety is the best of Karen. It's quiet, a lot of nature, sidewalks (so good for walking/running). Waterfront mall has everything you need, CJ's restaurant are high quality. Same with Naivas markets. It might be hard to get public transport, but Uber-Bolt are in 1000s. Giraffe center and Waterfront amusement are great places to visit. The Legend restaurant is more than amazing too.

Nairobi is very underdeveloped and typical standards are lower than what you might experience elsewhere. It was easy to get around using Uber and Bolt but I wouldn't feel safe going out on foot. As 2 women travelling together (mother and adult daughter) we didn't welcome the attention we got from men and even had to request quiet rides in Uber. The Sheldrick Animal Orphanage and the Giraffe Centre were the highlight of our stay. We arranged these ourselves directly through the official websites. Sheldrick is within Nairobi National Park, so you'll need to book entrance tickets for the park too.
