"It busy, it’s mad, it’s an assault on the senses and after you realise it all somehow works, you relax into it. It is an amazing place with some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. I always felt safe even though we got lost multiple times. A lovely place to visit in March and April. Can’t imagine what it would be like in the hotter months!! Highly recommend"

"Agafay is recommended for anyone looking to experience the beauty and tranquility of Morocco beyond the bustling cities. Just a short drive from Marrakech, Agafay offers a desert landscape with a peaceful, serene atmosphere. Whether you're looking to unwind in desert camps, ride camels across golden dunes, or enjoy a magical sunset over the vast desert, Agafay has something for everyone. The warmth and hospitality of the locals make it an unforgettable experience, and the unique blend of nature and culture creates a perfect getaway. For those seeking adventure, relaxation, or a mix of both, Agafay might be a perfect destination. I highly recommend adding it to your travel plans – it’s an authentic spot that will leave you with lasting memories."

Our stay at the Agafay Luxury Camp was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with stunning views of the Agafay Desert, a peaceful atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality that truly made us feel special. The camp itself is beautifully designed, combining luxury and comfort while still preserving the authentic desert experience. The tents were spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped, offering both privacy and breathtaking scenery. The food was delicious, with a great variety of traditional Moroccan dishes prepared with care, and the evening ambiance under the stars was simply magical. A very special thank you goes to Khalid at the reception desk, whose warm welcome set the tone for our entire stay. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. His professionalism and genuine hospitality made us feel at home and ensured that our experience was smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. If you’re looking for a luxurious yet authentic desert escape near Marrakech, Agafay Luxury Camp is the perfect choice. We truly enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking relaxation, beauty, and outstanding service.

Every single person was amazing. Especially Soufiane ( I hope he gets this message. I also hope I am spelling his name right). From our very first night to our last, he has gone beyond and above for my two boys and I. He really made our 3 nights stay and money worth every cent. For his beautiful kindness, he showed toward us and his excellent customer service, I will definitely come back and hope he will still be working at the hotel when we do come back. Thank Soufiane for making our stay a memorable. You are truly a great asset to Palais Namaskar. Abdul Rahim and Mohamed, thank you 😊🙏🏽.

We really liked the accommodation, and so did my family. Everything went very well. Maybe a bit more attention could be paid to small details regarding cleanliness, but nothing serious — it was fine. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was very generous. The location is great, with shopping options just around the corner — only 3 minutes away by car. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Clean, well-maintained hotel. The rooms are comfortable, and the restaurant offers plenty of food to choose from. The bars and pools are excellent. The staff is outstanding—we arrived later than expected (after dinner time), and we were invited to the restaurant to have dinner before check-in. There were even cookies, water, and fruit prepared in our room.

Loved the city vibe and had a great time exploring.

Loved the city vibe and had a great time exploring. In end May, it was already very hot - I would recommend for visitors to drink lots of water and stay out of the sun at least between noon and 5-6pm. I walked around the entire time and even with suncreen, hat, and water, I got a bad headache by the evening. I'd recommend visiting in a cooler period. I really recommend the day trip to the Atlas mountains, completely different world with green, rivers and fresh air.

We stayed at Be Nomad Camp for one night and in hindsight should have done two. It is a great place to relax and unwind. Be Camp Nomad is located about 5kms outside of Agafay. Not as certain of the town of Agafay itself. We only drove through it and that gave an impression of lots of Quad Bike and Sand Dune buggy shops, which is not my cup of tea.

We spent 3 nights in the Ourika Valley.

We spent 3 nights in the Ourika Valley. It certainly have majestic views of the mountains and valleys. It was about right number of days for what we wanted. If you don't have transport yourself hiring drivers etc can be quite pricey, but they will stay with you, translate and answer all your questions. They were all very kind, polite and drove well. The hotel can help to organise. We did a camel ride which was fun and they were well looked after. Its about one hour. We used the company located close to the river on the left as you drive up the valley (there are several). The waterfall trip - its a nice hike, but be warned 50% of the walk is through a bazaar. You will be offered to hire a guide. At the start its bit confusing with multiple paths as they shop owners want you to walk past theirs. If you got kids or elderly hikers a guide is certainly a good idea as all the guides are very helpful. We are quite fit so we hiked up on our own. Wasn't bothered or hassled by shop keepers. We spotted monkeys as well which was a surprise. If you drive with your own car there is parking places, you can also ask the locals on the street as they can also offer their places up for a fee. There are nice restaurants on the river, the food was perfectly nice. There are cheaper places of course, but you may not get the view. "Berber house" - was really interesting for the kids and make sure you use your guide/driver to ask questions. We left a small tip to the house owner. You will likely be served bread and tea.

Please be aware of this place.

Please be aware of this place. First of all, they never answer the phone. They close the door even if your reservation has already been pais, this business models functions as a "staying at owners property with their family", no one checks our IDS, no proper check-in, only the couple asking the staff to take us to our room. When we asked why the AC was not functioning, the husband starts yelling at us and was very aggressive that it sacred us so much so we avoided them the whole week-end because we were worried for our safety. The wife told us "just leave, go to the Mamounia" which is a luxury hotel in Marrakesh. At the end of our stay after breakfast and when we asked for the bill for our dinner and beverages (our stay has already been paid on Booking), the owner has overcharged us and wanted us to pay for desserts we never ordered. Honestly, we just paid, we are two sisters travelling and wanted to avoid more drama that we already had to go through with this family. I am sharing this to prevent travelers from being mistreated or being robbed.

Don't be intimidated in the souks just move on.

Don't be intimidated in the souks just move on. Always have at least 20 Dirhams on you so that you can offer it to a seller or performer for a picture - it's how I avoided being ripped off. Take wet wipes and hand sanitiser if travelling outside of Marrakech as some places do not have regular toilets. Don't engage if a strange says hello without being prompted. Only use the pink/beige taxis and agree to a price first. Use official tours with local guides as they are professional and there is no chance of getting lost. Do travel to other towns and cities and enjoy the plentiful honey and mint tea. Have fun and don't be afraid to ask for help!!

Location is great but unfortunately, The quality of food isn't the best , The rooms are basic beds and if you're more than one person they add another bed to the one , unfortunately, they aren't the best beds . If the weather is warm remember to take a small fridge with you as they refuse to put a basic small fridge /cooler in the room for basic water . Expect low to mid quality food for high prices

Very annoying touts everywhere and not much water in October. The waterfalls had zero water so go in Spring if you want to see it at its best maybe. Keep going up river for more quality places and there is a nice shop and cafe with (albeit expensive) argan oil products etc. They gave us a free tasting of their oils, honeys and almond butter with our coffees there.
