This was our second stay, following our visit in 2018. The property is filled with fun, eye-catching features that really appeal to kids (and adults!), including guest rooms made from railway passenger cars and a conductor’s cabin, as well as fire trucks and various car parts. Our son, who loves vehicles, was thrilled. Although it was a very cold day due to unexpected snowfall, a bonfire was lit in front of the entrance. We enjoyed warming ourselves while chatting with other guests, which created a very welcoming and cozy atmosphere. During our previous stay, we stayed in a standard room, but this time we chose one of the railway passenger car rooms, which made the experience even more special. We would love to stay in the conductor’s cabin on our next visit.

The location is just amazing! You can walk down the creek and relax in the chairs right by the water. Absolutely beautiful! The room came with its own fenced in (for the bugs) porch with chairs and a table -- we were not expecting that, but it was really nice. The woman at the front desk was lovely. Overall, it was a great night and I would recommend this place.

The place is AMAZING! It’s a bit “vintage”, but kept immaculately and perfectly so that it feels as if it had all been built yesterday. The rooms are sterilely clean, smell great, and the staff is welcoming and wonderful. Not to talk about the view and the surroundings, which are simply out of this world. Wow! Such nice experience!

Phoenix, just a hundred years ago a frontier town, is now a giant, sprawling suburb of fie million with most every block looking the same as the last one. It's uber dependent upon cars to get around, with few bike lanes. It does have good sidewalks in most places. There are churches and mega churches next to strip and sex clubs, adult video stores next to casinos and the usual offering of bad fast food. It really is indistinguishable from other southwest cities like Vegas except for the magnificent hills, mountains and desert surrounding it. But be prepared to witness a very large, destitute homeless population that fill up all the bus stop at night. Maricopa county does have programs to help prevent homelessness, and conducts outreach and assessment and referral though I saw NO one doing outreach anywhere in the city while I was there for over six weeks. I spoke with more than a score of street people and NONE had ever met an outreach worker. Then theres the meth problem, not unlike south Florida. I talked with folks who had things stolen from their cars while filling up with gas, harassed for a dollar, etc. Then there's the drivers: they are lawless and dangerous, frequently passing on the right or in the breakdown lanes going over 100 miles an hour, often with NO front or rear to the vehicles, no headlights, no rear lights, no mufflers, etc: uninsured and dangerous. I witnessed three fatal crashes while visiting on the 17 and I10. The state has a high vehicular homicide rate of 17.5 per every 100,000, among the top ten worst in the country. Not sure I will return though I love the Sonoran desert.

We visit every year for the hiking and overall experience.

We visit every year for the hiking and overall experience. Just watch when you are planning to go. We ended up in traffic and no parking at many of our favorite sites because we were there on an overlapping holiday weekend with a lot of romantic weekend getaway traffic, which prevented us from doing a few things we wanted in the couple of days we had. If you're after hiking and sightseeing consider booking a stay during the week when there are fewer daytrippers coming in wanting to do the same things you want to do. We fell in love with Sedona about 10 years ago and now it is a regular part of our annual February getaway. We have had all kinds of weather from hot to over a foot of snow, but that is part of the adventure.

I met relatives that stayed in a separate room in the same hotel. They were familiar with the area. We went to Texas Roadhouse restaurant for dinner. It was outstanding! We went to First Choice for breakfast which was another popular good food location. The next morning I was by myself before checking out so I had breakfast at the hotel and it was well stocked, and had several good choices. It took care of those hunger pains before hitting the road again.

First time in Tempe. City was very hot but manageable because there is no humidity. Clean city, at least the parts I saw. College town with resort casinos nearby. Lots of opportunities for fun and adventure. All the restaurants seem to have lively business but there is some lack of variety of cuisine. Will likely be back.

The front desk staff was excellent, as was General Manager Ron. However, I experienced repeated issues with privacy. Multiple times throughout the week and daily (roughly three times a day) housekeeping entered the room while my underage children were present, including instances when they were still sleeping. I was informed that weekly cleaning would be the only time they would enter and I already had that two days prior; that staff would enter only at those times. Unfortunately, there was no knocking or identification—housekeeping simply walked in, which was concerning. I am worried about my children being disturbed or put in an uncomfortable situation, especially since I had communicated that I preferred no one enter the room outside of scheduled cleaning sessions. I was assured that no one would enter without permission, which was not my experience. They do not have signs that states "Do not disturb." Regarding the front desk team, they are truly outstanding. As for the pricing, I believe it may be somewhat on the higher side compared to the value offered. On a positive note, the location is perfect, front desk employee are truly phenomenal!
