- very nice and welcoming staff, who also helped us even before arriving with suggestions on how to get to the hotel from bus terminal - helpful room and hotel instructions with photos showed by the staff during check In - Room kept a nice temperature during our stay - nice clothes hangers next to the bed - pristine room and hotel - Room with everything you may need and with great noise isolation - There is a water dispenser available in the room floor - Great shower area and water pressure, as well as toilet amenities - nicely decorated corridors and halls, as well as lounge - Good WiFi signal - they make an effort to save water and energy

We spent several very comfortable nights at the upscale Liu Men Hotel. The hotel is located a little way off Jonker Street, and we had quiet nights. It offers very good amenities while attempting to preserve a historic atmosphere. The location is very convenient for exploring the city on foot, and there's also a bike rental shop around the corner.

I was honestly surprised by how good this hotel was for the price. The whole place is beautifully designed and extremely clean, from the rooms to the common areas. Our room was also much more spacious than expected. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the smaller details, including wheelchair accessibility and making the hotel comfortable for everyone. The staff were professional and attentive throughout our stay. The location was another plus, with a lively riverside area just across from the hotel filled with shops and plenty of places to eat. Definitely my first choice whenever I am in Melaka

Asia in a Nutshell

One of Malaysia’s smallest states, Melaka (or Malacca) has an important place in the country’s history. Home to one of the first Malaysian sultanates, it features a fabulous, replica sultan’s palace in the capital – Melaka City.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sprawling city is a fascinating mix of architecture, including temples, mosques and churches dating back to Dutch and Portuguese colonial periods. Alongside more modern structures - such as Masjid Selat (also called the Malacca Straits Mosque) just offshore by Melaka beach - are ruins of A Famosa fort, wooden fishing boats, and traditional buildings in the Kampung Morten area, by a sharp bend in the Melaka River.

The city is also a rich mix of Asian nationalities and the Chinatown hotels near Jonker Street weekend night markets are particularly popular.

Melaka Airport is in the northern Batu Berendam suburb, and to the east is the Malacca International Trade Center in the small town of Ayer Keroh. Surrounded by lush greenery, this town also houses Melaka Zoo and the Taman Mini Malaysia and Mini ASEAN theme parks, featuring cultural events and reconstructions of housing styles typical of the Malaysian regions and south-east Asian countries.

Hotel is in an excellent location with walking distance to many eateries places and Jonker Walk. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The room we stayed in has a beautiful and relaxing view and is spacious with a big bath room. The bed is comfortable. The house keeping staff Egi does a great job of keeping our room nice and clean. Thank you. The swimming pool has a great view and very clean. Comfortable sun beds. We had our massage done at Satkara Spa it was excellent highly recommended. We had a wonderful stay. Would definitely stay again next time in Melacca.

The hotel is a no frills hotel with the basic amenities for someone who enjoys the day time outside and coming back for a good sleep at night. The room is bigger than most hotels, the furniture and beds are seasoned but comfortable.

The village streets are delightful to walk & the hospitality within each shop was very pleasant . The Dutch square side of the village is good for the history of administration over the centuries along with the battlements.

The calmness of the town is unique.

The calmness of the town is unique. I liked the food they served in the shops, very authentic. Unlike the big towns in Malaysia, this little town has its own uniqueness in the food, the scenery & the peace. Its awesome for Nature lovers. Its like visiting our past in the late 60s/70s. The people there are so friendly.

Melaka is a popular historical country, wherever you go, you need to plan ahead. but dont rely too much on online booking, like for us, when we want to book for the Ayer Keroh Zoo,all online booking stated fully booked. but when we went there physically, it was available all the way. a bit frustated with the Zoo though, a lot of animal sites are empty or under construction, but the Dinasour Experience are the best, especially for kids

The beach is beautiful especially at night. The beach is attractive, suitable for various activities, especially for children and adults. The open area is also suitable for setting up tents and relaxing while fishing on the beach. However, it is in the process of construction. I am sure that in a short time this place will become more attractive

Traveling around weekdays is a breeze other than to avoid school area (Jam Pack noontime). I have skipped going to Melaka during weekends as traffic there is a chaos. A short traveling distance can become an hour to reach your destinations.

A location in older part of town, not far from historical...

A location in older part of town, not far from historical attractions. However not in the proper Kampung Morten precint the locals know. Nearby scenic river walk. Public transport nearby. Historical kampung Hulu mosque over the river footbridge, 400 metres away. Resonable shopping in local shops. Further from upmarket plazas. Unfortunately, the footpaths in this location/general area are either non-existant or painfully uneven. Some shop traders have made a lovely entrance to their shop, but raised the footpath infront of their premises by upto 20 cm. Every 2nd-3rd shop entrance is different to the last...hopeless for a baby pusher.

Melaka/Malacca is one of the historic place in Malaysia.

Melaka/Malacca is one of the historic place in Malaysia. If you like history, this is a best place you can learn and see a lot of artifats from the past. You can learn a lot of things, from the start of empires, its greatest moments, its fallen, and all the ways to present. For me, this is something i learnt in my history book during school time and when you stepped on the land itself, it feels different. Of course, now you also can witness the great moment-Jonker street, the city itself and etc, and the hosptality of Malacca people. They are kind and hardworking. I will said it is one of the well preserved historic place in Malaysia. Compared to other cities around the world like Bangkok, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, it is mixed on historical, modern and traditional culture where you might see the differences. The overall, Melaka/Malacca is a good place to cleanse your mind and you don't have to think what to do next. Just eat well, drink well and sleep well. This historic city are welcoming you.
