Burgus hotel is a gem. The staff is great, always with a smile. The location is superb, right in the middle of Braga. The breakfast is excellent and served at the table at the time you requested in advance. The personell takes care of the details and are helpful. The rooms are great - and many with a nice view of the city roofs including the Cathedral’s towers. In short, a great hotel. Highly recommended.

It's been years since I've felt a place deserved a review. AP Dona Aninhas is top tier and deserves 5 stars. The wellness area is perfectly laid out, encompassing steam room, heated pool, hot tub, sauna and sensation shower. The restaurant serves fresh, high quality meals and the bar is well stocked. Exceptionally clean in all areas and smells divine. We'll without a doubt stay here when we return to Viana.

People are very nice and helpful. We arrived in the middle of the night (around 03:45) due to flight trouble and they left us instructions for pick-up of keys. We really appreciated the offered solutions. Thanks Ernani. Our luggage arrived 2 days later and they received them on our absence. Perfect! There are around 10 or 12 small bungalows, arranged internally like apartments, with terraces and outrageous views over the valley. There are modern kitchen equipment, with induction hearth, stove, dish washer and also some pans. If you are a cook you will miss some pans and additional equipment like mixers, but for usual cooking it is sufficient. There is a heated internal pool, very nice as we stayed 5 days in autumn and had a lot of rain, wind and low temperatures. Head caps are required and can be bought on reception for 4 € each. We had our breakfast included. During the days where there were enough guests, rich and varied options were available. As people got reduced, they asked us at night before to choose food from a menu. No desperdice. Perfect! We didn't eat at restaurant, but it smelled very well during the initial days and they offer some nice combinations at a relatively high price level (this seems to be inherent to the region), but we are not really enabled to evaluate this point. Rooms were clean on arrival. In bathroom there is a heating device which allows hanging and drying of bath towels. Very nice as this small detail is often neglected at hotels. As the bungalows are placed on a steep hill, it is adequate more for a bit sporty people. Access by road is also steep but asphalted and reachable by standard vehicles. We are planning to return to Peneda-Gerês (under better weather conditions) and would certainly consider to stay at Pousadela again.

A true paradise in the nature, in a super stylish cabins, and most amazing hosts. Every detail warmed the heart, you enter the bungalow and bottle of whine with a cake is waiting for you, 10minutes after it stars raining, hosts nocks at your doors with sturdy umbrellas. We were extremely unlucky with a weather, but cabin was so beautiful, surrounded by the wonderful nature, local cat visited us and stayed with us for the whole night and we used inside pool with an amazing view to the hills, so we were not even sorry that we couldn’t get outside for 3days:)

We loved everything about this hotel. It was located in the perfect spot, with parking and free access to the park where the pools are located. The rooms were spotless, very comfortable, and had a truly luxurious feel. We stayed for two nights but wish we could have stayed longer. The beds were super comfortable with great pillows as well. Best sleep I've had in Portugal so far. The breakfast was really great with lots of variety at the buffet. Staff were very friendly, and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Excellent accommodation with 20 - minute walk into town centre. Charming old town with variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. The hospital ship moored in the harbour had a fascinating history as well as very interesting to explore. The Saint Luzia Church on the hill was beautiful and provided some amazing views across the city, river, and the sandy beaches to the South. Friendly local people and some good quality restaurants.

It was compact and easy to get around, it is historic and religious so lots of cathedrals and churches to visit. It was the festival of Sao Joao while we were there so there were parades through the streets which was interesting. There are plenty of bars and restaurants. The public transport is really good and a must visit is Bom Jesus do Monte which is a short bus journey away. If you like craft beer a visit to Letraria and Mal Amado are well worth it. We found all the people in Braga to be very friendly.

Guimaraes as the birthplace of Portugal is most certainly worth visiting. The historic sites are located relatively close together so easy to get to in a short time. The people are friendly and welcoming and customer service is excellent. There is a good range of prices for both accommodation and food so great choices for all travellers.

Esposende is the perfect place from where to explore northwestern Portugal. It's a quite town that offers all the necessary services. Many beaches nearby. Ofir beach south of the river is our favorite, but there are many beaches north of Esposende as well, with paths along the dunes and the pine forests. The local cuisine is wonderful, the sushi and pizza places were horrible.

Caminha is a great town, there are many nice spots close by. The town itself is very beautiful with nice restaurants. Close by you have Praia Moledo which is very kids friendly and there are also options for surfing lessons. 20 min away you also have Villa da Cerveiro which is nice town and very traditional. In general it is a great spot to stay 4-5 days and explore a bit. A nice restaurant is Maria Moledo, very tasty! it was great experience and local food. In Praia Moledo there are many nice restaurants along the beach where you can easily find a spot for lunch or dinner even without booking. People in general are very friendly and dont take advantage of tourists.

Ponte de Lima is okay for a day or so, but there's not much to do in terms of museums, galleries or night life. It has a historic bridge and some old buildings, and nice restaurants, but I wouldn't go back. Porto offers a lot more especially as a solo traveller. It probably suits couples and families on a day trip.

The sands of Vila Praia de Âncora extend from the fishing port over to the river. This enormous beach have strong Atlantic waves which means high quality for surfing. In the area adjoining the Avenida Marginal coast road, you can have calmer waters with easier access to the sea. You can find supermarkerts, restaurants and bars to envoy your stay in this small town. The southern area, accessible to walkers only over a wooden walkway, contains practically always deserted spaces, surrounded by protected sand dunes. Nearby you have the Serra de Arga hills, with an attractive natural environment, which features some good walking conditions.
