- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 648 reviewsAn amazing old castle like property. Great staff, comfy beds, nice renovated bathroom and a great breakfast. Best of all, there are plenty of beautiful shared spaces, if you have to spend some time inside. You can see the test of time in some spots, but it adds to the authenticity of the property. Overall a very cool place!Guest review byRuohonen

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel.
I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. First, the location was completely unsuitable — it turned out to be in an industrial exhibition area, not at all what I expected. I also paid 30% extra for a balcony room, but the balcony faced a parking and loading area, offering no added value. Second and most serious, I was charged at the time of booking via Booking.com, but upon arrival, the hotel claimed they hadn’t received the payment and made me pay again. Despite showing proof of the original charge, the staff refused to help and told me to deal with Booking.com myself. I ended up paying twice for a one-night stay. At checkout, no one took responsibility. Both the hotel and Booking.com admitted they received my money — but neither refunded me. It's now been over a week, and I’ve written and called multiple times with no resolution. I am still waiting to get my money back for the duplicate charge. The complete lack of support, communication, and accountability from both the hotel and Booking.com is unacceptable. I do not recommend this hotel, and I advise travelers to double-check payments and be cautious.Guest review byAnonymousSweden - 8.0

Charming little village with cobble stones and pretty facades. Known for the sweets and lollies. Compare the prices as the main street tends to be more expensive. Take the boat to Visingso and rent a bike to discover the island.Guest review byGeraldineBelgium - 10.0

We went on a Wednesday when there was an old car meet up. Great buzz in the city. Live band playing and really lovely places to eat and drink outside. Also beautiful walk by the castle and church. Recommend a visit!Guest review byYvonneSweden - 8.0

We were travelling over to Gothenburg so this was a great little stop over town en route. We visited the motor museum (which was actually rather good) and took a walk around the waterfront. Some nice bistros and eateries there, all you would need for a short stay. We sadly missed the broadcasting/radio museum nearby as it was closed. The town square itself is nice but there are a quite a few more modern buildings that look a little brutal. We moved on to Vadstena which was a short drive away and a fantastic place to visit. All in all Motala is a great base and to drive to lots of attractions in the surrounding areas. Thumbs up!Guest review byAnonymousSweden - 8.0

Great place if you are passing by Jönköping but doesnt want to stay downtown, close enough and far enough. Dont park on the hotels parking lot if you only stay for the night, better to park just outside, its much cheaper.Guest review byJose RosassSweden - 8.0
A city full of beauty and culture.
A city full of beauty and culture. My visit was timed with high school Prom season, which is a celebrated event here. Saw some amazing vintage cars during the prom processions. The food options are phenomenal. As someone with gluten intolerance, I found it a simple process to find good food. Several food festivals happened during my trip, and the flavours were a party in my mouth. Jönköping is a great jumping-off point to other cities in the region, which are only a bus or train ride away. Great for day tripping. Also, there are plenty of walking trails in the area too.Guest review byAmyAustralia - 10.0
Small but very cozy city with beautiful lake views.
Small but very cozy city with beautiful lake views. City is popular for their candies, on the main street of Gränna there is a number of candy shops with huge selection of different sweets and you can see their production process. Could not find a decent place to eat though, basically sandwiches and candies all around :)Guest review byMarksLatvia - 10.0

The weather wasn't as pleasant as we had hoped, but one can't blame Vadstena for that. The castle is well worth a guided visit, and the town is very pleasant for walking, with lake-front paths and many small shops (be careful - they shut at 15.00 on Saturdays).Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

very quiet city, mondays are definately dead at night. you can go around the city mostly walking or on scooter. we visited all the main places in the first 3 days, even the visingsö island (also small). there are many nice places to eat though, burgers, italian, ice cream, even a brewery. if you go with car it's much easier to move around and visit the nearby cities. if you like nightlife, not your place to visit. and like everywhere on sweden, you can communicate in english just fine.Guest review bydanielasynnerChile - 10.0
Vadstena is an amazing place.
Vadstena is an amazing place. Lots of culture buildings, castle and of course the famous church. You can take a swim from any place along the lakefront. Taking a walk is highly recommended. Walk all the way out to the lighthouse. If you get hungry, grab something to eat and sit down in the park. Lovely!Guest review byAnonymous
