Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was no hot water in the shower, just lukewarm, which did not improve much after notifying the property, and the beds were uncomfortable (we both woke up with sore necks each morning).
Fantastic location in the centre of the city, and the staff were friendly, kind and responsive. The two sinks along with both separate shower and bath in the bathroom were great.

United KingdomYou cannot use the lift, it's only for your luggage.
The location was perfect, just around the corner from the main square. We could see the belfry bell tower from room and hear the bells chiming. The corridors of the suites were nicely decorated and our room (Chocolate brownie) was amazing. The bathroom was sooo big and the room had everything we needed for a 4 night stay.

United KingdomThere was a very unpleasant smell in the whole room coming from the toilet. The water inside the toilet was getting dirty and smelly if you weren’t flashing often becoming disgusting. I can understand that this is a very old building but there should be a way to fix this. Also the cleanliness was not good. During our stay we didn’t manage to have a hot shower as the water was cold and you had to leave it running for quite a long time to become lukewarm but it never got hot. We were told that their engineer was looking at this but until we left it wasn’t fixed. As it was an old building the stairs to the rooms were steep and the staircase steps were small (depth) so you had to be careful when you were going down. You could only use the lift for the luggages which at least reduced the risk of an accident but still you need to be very careful.
The location was excellent as it was in the heart of the city close to the main attractions.

TurkeyAlthough we haven’t received any information about it, we were told that it’s a self check-in hotel on the day we arrived. The elevator didn’t work, we had to carry our luggages. The hot water didn’t work as well.
The Only thing good about the hotel is location, it’s in the old City center.

New ZealandThe Chocolate Suites was such a cute hotel, loved the chocolate theme. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a huge bonus, especially since we were visiting in December. It was walking-distance to everything in town, and the host gave great restaurant recommendations!

CanadaThe water was luke warm. I definitely didn’t like that the room could not be locked from the inside. I felt very insecure being there with my daughter knowing that the easy passcode to figure out was the only thing keeping the door locked
The communication was good. Room was as pictured

United StatesClock & tv didn’t work & should be removed. Hot & airless with only a thick winter quilt on the bed. Unable to open window tho broken handle showed evidence that many of us hot breathless suffering occupants tried very hard. Fan rattled. Plug ins overloaded. Luggage elevator took luggage down 1 story then quit. My handicapped partner & I had to carry it down steep stairs. Hot, airless. Miserable
Clean. Modern bathroom

CanadaWhen entering, the hallways smelled like sewer or dirty drain. The rooms smelled fine but were not particularly clean. There was dust and crumbs under the bed and in some of the corners. The heating was not working which it mentions in booking.com page. It’s summer but the towel rack heater would have been nice in the bathroom to dry our towels a little at least. Laying on the bed you sank into it quite a bit. We texted the contact number to ask about some extra towels, whether there was an iron or whether the heating worked for the towel rack in the bathroom. The response was, “hello I’ll get it checked”, both times with no follow up at all. It wouldn’t have taken much to improve our ratings of this place at all.
The location is excellent!

NetherlandsThere was almost no water pressure in the sink and the shower. The most annoying thing was that someone from housekeeping was waiting in front of door and then started knocking on our door at 10 am, when the checkout time is still 11 am. Never seen anything like this before. It was very disturbing.
The room was clean. Location was great, it was right in the center.

United KingdomFloor was dirty when we arrived. They had a nice coffee machine and kettle but only supplied teabags, no milk, no coffee.
Great location. Spacious room (room no.10, the chocolate brownie room). Very comfortable bed. Due to there being no reception staff, you're given a code for front door and your room which was nice and simple.

FinlandTheir Booking.com page still says they offer continental breakfast, but that is incorrect. I contacted Chocolate Suites about this and they explained that they used to offer breakfast but because of covid they had to quit and switch to more airbnb model. Their page still mentioning breakfast and mnay highly rated reviews mentioning it is misleading. I got no compensation, just a list of places where I could get breakfast. I do understand this, but they advertise themselves as a hotel and the fact that there was no one in there at the reception at any time (fully self service, worked well though) and that there's no breakfast should be made more clear in their advertising. Especially given that they charge hotel level prices.
Excellent location, but the street itself is quite quiet. Main square, a lots of restaurants and old city sights within few hundred meters. Clean and big room, and very large bathroom. Small fridge for chilling excellent belgian beer was a big plus.
