Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

FranceWe had a car so we were mobile which helped otherwise, eating onsite every evening would have been expensive! That said, if you do eat onsite, you won't be disappointed because it is delicious!
What a perfect stay. The staff are incredible, the place is amazing and we had everything we had such a lovely stay. Highlight was having a delicious (and copious) breakfast on our last day watching all of the animals coming to eat too. Including a coatimundi, hummingbirds, toucans, and many other amazing birds. The Pina colada la were also some of the best I've had !

United States of AmericaThe only thing that was less than amazing was the wifi. It came and went and wasn't particularly reliable. This was not a problem for us, as we were fairly disconnected during our vacation. But if someone was having a working holiday, the unreliability of the wifi could be a problem for them.
Everything!! I booked this hotel because the reviews were so high, but because the reviews were so outstanding, I expected to be disappointed. I was not. This hotel still managed to exceed all our expectations! Our treehouse room was super cute, with 3 of the walls being full windows so that we could look out into the trees at all the birds and other wildlife. I really enjoyed thing indoor/outdoor shower, the walls on it were high enough for modesty, but left enough open air to enjoy the birds, lizards, and bugs around you. The hotel is a little out of town, so you get to be immersed in the jungle, and see a great variety of wildlife, but its also close enough to town that a round trip taxi trip is only about $15 usd. We also loved coming back from a hot day for a refreshing evening in the pool. The restaurant was so delicious that we ended up eating there every night, even though we had plans to go into town more often. Every meal was excellent, and the portions were so large that my mom and I split every meal and were still full. The staff was all so friendly and helpful, they not only made us feel so welcome, they made us feel that they all genuinely enjoyed working there. They lay out food for the birds every day, and a great variety come to eat, we spent all our meals watching the birds. My mom even got her wish on the last day of our trip, to see toucans. They came to eat by the restaurant while we were having breakfast. Claudia cares passionately about the experience, and made everything so easy. I usually do all of my own planning, but I was having trouble getting responses from tour companies in a timely manner, so I allowed Claudia to take over that portion of our trip. She got us every tour we wanted on the days we wanted them, and we had great guides and drivers for everything. One of the guides even told me about how Claudia stays on top of them if they don't respond in a timely manner to get her guests the best experience that she can.

United States of AmericaThe room could have used a couch and table, or a table and chairs. There was no place to sit other than the bed(s). The extra twin bed in the room would be better off as a futon, or some other fold out bed, so that it could also be used as a couch. I know we were in the jungle and should have been happy with listening to the the evening cicada or whatever, but by 9pm, with no nightlife to participate in, it's nice to rewind with some TV. So unfortunately, I would have enjoyed a tv so we could access netflix, or whatever. We did partake in all of the local culture and food and jungle offerings. So I don't want to give you the impression all we want to do is watch tv on vacation. The deck could have used a little "attention." But the chairs on the deck were nice and we enjoyed sitting there with coffee.
The staff was just amazing. So kind, thoughtful and accommodating. Even took me down to the river on a personal tour to help me get in the water, make sure I was safe, etc. The food was better than the food we had in Rome and Venice; I kid you not. Terrific value. And then the bathroom was amazing; so beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the deck with coffee in the AM listening to the birds. The coffee machine and coffee provided were sublime. The tours and transportation the lodge connected us with were terrific.

United States of AmericaLoved everything about it! It is about a $20 cab ride I to town, so that gets a little pricey if you don’t have a car, but we were happy eating there every night, and our tour company did pick us up.
Beautiful property, bungalows are very private and nice, love the outdoor shower. The staff was great, especially Karina! She was so kind, helped us with so many different things. The food is amazing, and the outdoor restaurant so lovely.

United States of AmericaNothing. We loved every part of the experience.
Everything about the lodge is amazing. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The grounds are stunning and full of wildlife. The staff members were all so friendly and welcoming. And the restaurant was absolutely top-notch. Everything we ate there was delicious. It's clear the owner has set high expectations, and she was always on site and very helpful and gracious. We loved that the lodge was out of town and felt remote, and the unit we stayed in was super private and tucked back in the trees. The open air shower afforded us great views of the trees and nature, and we even got to see the coatimundis playing in the trees. Honestly, staying at the lodge was one of the best parts of our whole trip to Belize.

United States of AmericaWe had bugs in our room, but what do you expect when your bathroom is open to the outdoors and you’re in the jungle. Was not overwhelmed by them.
The food at the restaurant was incredible. We ate there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner multiple times because it was so good. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The bed and sheets in our room were very soft and the room was clean. The outdoor shower was cool and the views from the room were fun to see wildlife. The pool is great and big enough even if it’s busy.

Vanilla Hills Lodge was a dreamy retreat in the middle of Belize’s western jungle. Claudia and her team ensured we had everything we needed, from transportation to the hotel to recommended tours and experiences. We stayed in the coconut tree house. Our view over a small pond was stunning and we were treated to tons of wildlife sightings during our stay. The food at the restaurant was some of the best during our time in Belize. We truly can’t say enough about our time at Vanilla Hills, and the value for the services provided is incredible.

United States of AmericaThe only thing- the beds were “so so” comfort wise. But that didn’t break the trip for us, or make us feel any other way about the place.
Amazingly impressed with this resort! Perfect location. It was nice to be away from it all- tucked back in the trees. True jungle type feel! The cleanliness, the staff, and the grounds were stunning. It was nice to stay somewhere where the staff treated us like normal people. Coming from the states, often time when we visit Central American countries there’s a definite.. dislike we feel from staff members. Not here- these guys welcomed us into their country and were excited we travelled far to enjoy their country. Super recommended!!

The entire experience was exceptional. We arrived by car service so were thrilled that all the tours that were perfectly chosen for us picked us up at the resort. Loved sitting outdoors every morning surrounded by the amazing birds they feed fruit and enjoying breakfast. Dinner was also wonderful. My husband wanted to watch a Kansas City Chiefs playoff game and they found a sports bar that could play it and arranged the taxi.

Beautiful hotel! Stayed in one of the treehouse rooms (Superior King on booking) and it was exceptional - comfortable room, small kitchen supplies, cool outdoor shower, just enough A/C for a 95 deg day. Felt really secluded. The restaurant really exceeded expectations, with several good vegetarian options. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was a great surprise. Would definitely recommend.

We saw so many types of birds, including toucans. A family of coatimundi were also around. The staff put fruit in the trees near the dining area, which is outdoors.
