Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaWiFi was extraordinarily slow throughout my stay -- a chat or e-mail might get through every 10 minutes or so; browsing was consistently impossible.
Great location. Layout was rustic in a thoughtful way. Nice facilities. Staff was friendly.

CanadaThe rooms are small and tight to move around in, especially if you have twin beds. Most of the common areas are closed off, much of the time (evening and mornings). The beds were comfortable but can't compare to modern hotels. It's very much what you would expect in a hotel of this age. The door to our room could not close without using the deadbolt. You only have one key so it can present a problem.
This is a very old hotel in a small, beautiful town. The atmosphere and ambience takes you back to the Victorian era, not just in the hotel but also in the surrounding buildings. The hotel was built in 1874 and the interior stays true to its character. If you love the Victorian era you will love this hotel and the town as well, Everything is very clean and inviting.

CanadaThe inn makes an impression when you first see it. It looks old and in need of some TLC, with peeling paint etc. When we opened the front door though, it was a really nice surprise. The lobby looks like it must have when it was built over 150 years ago. It feels like a museum, with old fashioned wallpaper and antique furniture. The wooden curved staircase is exceptional. We really enjoyed the old fashioned feel and the front desk employee was fantastic, giving us a tour of the place and telling us all about the history of the place and of the town of Knowlton. Our room was small but cozy, and the hotel doesn't have the modern amenities of a new hotel, but the old fashioned charm and warm staff made our stay unique and enjoyable.

United States of AmericaIn the preview the negatives were placed first. The opening statement should be the part describing the charm of this hotel. Read the 🙂 section first. If there was an elevator, no one mentioned it. The evening clerk offered to help us take up our bags, but my husband preferred to get his aerobic exercise on the stairs. The Inn needs new carpet and a good airing out. There is a bit of musty odor which often comes to places near bodies of water. If you suffer from allergies, take your antihistamines. This inn is not for the faint of heart.
Loved the Victorian decor! This inn has a 19th century, Old World feel to it. The main staircase was wide and sturdy. It was very quiet, probably due to the wall-to-wall carpet throughout the hotel. Our room had an armoire large enough to hold most of our clothes. There were additional hooks on the wall for coats, etc. The staff was very helpful and there was a room dedicated to morning coffee and facilities for storing any food you may be travelling with. A sitting area outside that room made up for the lack of seating in our hotel room. There has been a restaurant on the first floor in the past. Perhaps it is only open in the summer. It would be a great addition to have it open year round.

Really loved the old style hotel - very quaint and homey. However the restaurant on the site was not open, and the really beautiful pub was only rarely open and did not serve food. Restaurants etc about a 5 minute walk away.

CanadaI didnt like the lack of amenities such as no coffee maker or kettle in room and the wifi is very slow. Also the Raku tv system was terrible- anything we tried to watch was constantly stopping to buffer and reload- we had to give up. Also our room only had one nightstand so only one of us had a light to read by.(Room 12)- also wasn’t too crazy about the bathroom sink being in the room and not in the bathroom itself which only held the toilet and shower.
location in close to main shopping/eating area and the inn is cute is you like antique style furnishings and wallpaper.

CanadaA good coffee maker, the one with pods, would be a great addition.
Although the pool doesn't have a solar blanket, we all are quite comfortable in colder water and had a good swim after a long day's drive. The Brome room is also very convenient to play cards or games. We would have liked to have the dining room in service at least for breakfast but we understand the constraints at this timeA

CanadaShould have a coffee machine in breakfast room at least, Keurig or Nespresso style. Extremely small TVs. Nice sized pool, but it is dated a bit and water very cold.
Well situated away from the busier commercial streets , nestled in between old style houses. Very quiet and quaint. If you like antiquely decorated, this the perfect place to stay
