Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaEven though the room was renovated, the bathroom is already showing signs of wear/tear. Not a big deal but for a prestigious property like the Chateau Laurier you have high expectations!
The location is superb. The staff were friendly and efficient. We like the Fairmonts as they are pet friendly. This time we stayed in a more renovated room which was nice - carpet was newer/cleaner and the bathroom refreshed (although quite small). Overall lovely property with great park out back.

United States of AmericaThe only downside was the low shower water pressure.
First and foremost, the staff was the best part. But pretty much everything else was also wonderful. Made me wish I was staying in Ottawa more than one night.

CanadaThe location is perfect - downtown within walking distance of several museums, the Rideau Centre, Byward Market, Sparks Street and more. The breakfast is fantastic and the building itself is old world charm.

United Arab EmiratesThe parking arrangements weren’t satisfactory. There weren’t enough valets. And though they were very polite, they took a long time getting our car on all occasions.
It was wonderful. The rooms were big and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice.

CanadaSee above.
Our room was #670 after I complained about another room on this floor. It was a silly room touted as a junior suite but poorly designed with a small queen bed in a separate but open space. There was a dining table in the middle of the suite part of the room. Who needs a dining table for one night? They said it had a city view! Two small windows looked out mostly on the windows of another building. The bathroom was tiny with no room for placing toiletries and a shower in a small bathtub with a flimsy old-fashioned shower curtain that sticks to one's body frequently. I started going to Chateau Laurier at age 12 and over the years have always stayed there when in Ottawa, but the last few times it certainly doesn't measure up. The common areas are still grand and quite lovely, but the rooms leave a lot to be desired, unfortunately. It will be a while before I go back.

CanadaWhile stately, it needs a little TLC - chips in the bathtub, exposed screw on vanity, crack in wallpaper. Given the price point, one could expect some more investment. While very central, it is quite chaotic at the entrance as there is always a ton of traffic, there is not a lot of space to drop off etc. Valet parking at $60 is dear although valets were all super nice!
Staff were very polite and friendly. It is centrally located with a lovely park behind it. It is a grand dame of a hotel - very stately but some may say old fashioned - but lovely arches, beautiful marble, high ceilings. Rooms are large.

United KingdomThe staff knowledge. I asked staff by the concierge what time the pool opened and was told 7am, they then asked check in who said 630am, when I double checked downstairs at the pool reception they said 630am. But I read somewhere else it was 6am. In the end I didn't bother using it.
Ease of valet parking, the comfy bed, easy check in, text message welcome and the views were incredible from the queen room. Like a fairytale.

United States of AmericaThe valet requested our guest to go to an ATM machine to get cash for a “mandatory cash tip”. Prior to my guests arrival, I had asked at the desk how my guest was to park and I was told that they could put the parking charge on my room. Why anyone would require a “mandatory tip” rather than a parking fee.
