Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanIt is very accessible during ski season, you can get there with bus 121 every 15 minutes. But it is a bit difficult to approach when ski season ended.
It is a ten minute bus ride by bus 121.So it is a quiet place to take a rest from the crowd.

AustraliaThe property is a bit out of the town which if we'd have known we probably would have chosen something else closer. The only other thing I'd say is that on arrival we weren't made to feel very welcome by the lady that eventually greeted us. We felt she was quite abrupt.
The property was lovely, was right on the road but this wasn't an issue. Our room overlooked the mountains which was beautiful. Room was a good size, nice and big and clean. Bathroom was lovely and clean, great water pressure. They still use shower curtains which we are not used to but at least this one was clean. The waitresses there were so lovely. The language barrier was a little difficult at first but we got through this. The breakfast was adequate but not heaps. Although we didn't have dinner there, the restaurant was always busy so we are presuming it was good food, just expensive.

TaiwanThe room I booked and paid for from the hotel is the most expensive and best room with a terrace view. But I actually stayed in a room that was not like this for the first night, and the next day the hotel automatically helped me change the original room type. It means that the money paid on the first night does not match the actual residence. I don't know why.
The landscape is really beautiful.

United KingdomYou would be charged extra for the Mountain View. Also, if you’re gonna stay more than one night make sure you know the extra charges. Cos there’s a few tax and charges that we had to pay on the day.
The views were exceptional

Australiano lift. somehow we didnt realise - for the luggage and my elderly mum, that was a negative - but we'd plan better next time. Happy to come again, even though there isnt one.
it was exactly what we were looking for. Away from the busy centre and with amazing views, friendly staff and great food. really great food!

United States of AmericaThis is about 1.2 miles from downtown Grindelwald, so you will need to take the bus or walk.
The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were small but comfortable and warm. The staff was kind and got us everything we needed. There was daily room cleaning. The views and location were stunning.

United States of AmericaRooms are comfortable but need updating. The staff is so busy with their duties, including running their restaurant, that I wasn’t able to get much helpful touring and hiking advice. Distant location from town center, and limited bus service, requires a car.
The property is in a beautiful and peaceful location, with stunning views for rooms facing the front. Restaurant is good by Grindelwald standards (only fair by international standards), for both lunch and dinner.

United KingdomWi-fi was somewhat unreliable but it meant my wife and I had to talk to each other rather than sit browsing in our phones 🤣
Fantastic quiet location with breathtaking mountain views. Our room was on the first floor with large balcony directly facing the mountains. The room was spacious and comfortably furnished. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner also very good with lots of produce from the owners farm. Bus stop immediately outside with a great free bus service into Grindelwald town centre that runs every 30mins till early evening. Other reviews have mentioned that the lady in charge was abrupt but she was very friendly to us and could switch between 4 different languages to ensure everyone felt welcome.

SwitzerlandBus service to the hotel stops early, before 7pm, so be mindful of that if you don't arrive with a car.
Lovely hotel with friendly and attentive staff! My room was clean and comfortable and I had a nice view of the First mountain from my window. The hotel is located away from the center, during the night it was quiet and I was able to get a good rest after my hike. The bus stop is conveniently right in front of the hotel. A continental breakfast was also included, which was great.

United KingdomFlies both in the indoor restaurant and outside eating area were a nuisance.
If you want spectacular Mountain View’s all round and a traditional interior then you won’t go wrong here. Very quiet at night as it’s right at the top of Grindelwald. Baloo the Labrador is a lovely feature if you like dogs. The outdoor seating affords superb Mountain View’s of the Eiger etc.
