We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

United Kingdom18CHF per person for a 1 minute trip. Very steep hill if you don’t want to get the train which I thought was the better option. These are the only 2 ways to access the property. Bring your own toilet roll as there wasn’t any in arrival.
Spotlessly clean and very beautiful, stunning view of the Matterhorn and the town of Zermatt is so pretty I would definitely return to Zermatt and Legendar apartments. Lovely pool and jacuzzi area which was very quiet. Only a short walk into town. Recommend the North Wall restaurant they have a wonderful roof terrace and pizza and nachos are amazing. The Koffee Shop is also nearby on the bridge and was so lovely, coffee and cakes are a must during your visit.

United KingdomThe access to the property is a little inconvenient, especially during certain seasons where the train access is very limited! So, it might help to check out the frequency of trains before you book.
The fact that the large window overlooks the Matterhorn is a huge plus! It was just fantastic! Paula, the manager, was very helpful, too. Overall stay was superb, almost a perfect 10 if not for the access issue, especially when you have travelling luggage...

RomaniaThe property is advertised as a 4 star hotel - but it is neither a hotel, nor a 4 star. There is no reception, no restaurant and basically no services. Despite staying for a week, there was no cleaning, no change of towels, no toiletries - and guests are actually requested to take their towels and bed sheets to the laundry room when leaving! Plus, of course, dispose of their trash themselves... The apartment is spacious, but beds are individual and even when joined there are wooden beams in the middle; there is a rustic/basic feel to the whole place. There is a pool, which the kids liked well enough, despite being too cold for my taste. Of course, no towels are provided...There is also a jacuzzi, but it was constantly hogged by one family or another, so might be useful to post a rule somewhere about turn taking. Access to this place is very particular...either by train, but mind the schedule as trains that stop there are quite far apart - or by walk, which means a very steep, winded path down to the village core. We are grateful for the stay, as we always are, but there should be more transparency in information provided about this property.
The property really has impressive views of the Matterhorn and of the region. The apartment is spacious and the floor-to-ceiling windows provide both stunning views and lots of light. The outdoor terrace is probably a dream in summer.

United KingdomThe location. The only easy way to reach the property is to spend CHF8 per person per way to take the train up to Legendar stop. If you take bus and walk from the city with luggage, you will need to take a hike on a slippery slope which will not be possible and easy for children and even adult. I booked the stay with Matterhorn view but we can only see from the top window with limited view. The heater is making noise the whole day. It is very noisy the whole day even if we put on night mode.

SingaporeThe location… it’s walkable to the center and train stations, but it’s a super steep “hike” to the accommodation each time. It was a nightmare with luggage as we didn’t take the train as instructed when we first arrived
It was spacious, clean, and had a great view of the Matterhorn! Overall a very comfortable stay for our large party of 10

SwitzerlandHard to access. The train connection is not that frequent or easy to understand how it works, and walking implies climbing a bit, which is hard to do with luggage

PhilippinesEverything is good except for the access to the property. It was via gornegrat train but the train has a limited time of drop off to the hotel. In short you cannot access it anytime you want. You have to go the alternative way which is to walk to the property. It says walkable but they did not specify that the walkable path has about 200m inclined access that if you're not physically fit, it will not be a good experience for you, much more if you're carrying a luggage. Also, the access code was sent thru sms but we were not able to receive it. No follow up email or call initiated from the property staff to check unlike the other apartments we came from, especially that the staff will not be around on the arrival date. She did send the message as shown in screenshot but we didnt receive the said message. Took us almost an hour outside the property calling different numbers. Also communication was not good. We have questions during our stay unanswered. It was really a bad experirnce for us.We hope there will be other way to get thru the property comfortably and communication be improved in the future.
Other than the access and poor communication, we like everything in Legendare. The great view of matterhorn, the coziness and refreshing ambiance of the room and the complete kitchen. We really felt at home. If access and comm will be improved, we'll definitely go back to this place. Thank u.

United StatesOnly downside was the walk up to get to the property. You can take the train up to the stay, but it’s expensive. The walk is free, but can be bad if you have luggage.

United StatesLike other reviews, the location can be a challenge. We bought a RT Gornregaut ticket and used it at the beginning and end to move luggage (and of course in between to go up to see the Matterhorn). Otherwise, used the path behind the hotel to get in and out of town. It was steep with switchbacks but not horrible if you have been doing any hiking around Switzerland. Otherwise, everything else was great.Better directions on checking in once you get off the train would be helpful.
Absolutely loved the view of the Matterhorn from our porch. Seeing the sunrise on a clear morning was the highlight of our trip. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Also enjoyed the pool and hot tub for a relaxing afternoon on a rainy day. The location itself was wonderful -- away from the busy downtown Zermatt area. Price point was good compared to many other places in Zermatt, mist of which you could not even see the Matterhorn. The owner was very communititive and even let us stay later for checkout.

GermanyThe code to our keybox was only emailed to us at 21:13 the day of our arrival despite several requests throughout the day through the booking app. The difficulty of the access is not appropriately conveyed on the website and in their arrival guide. The Gornergrat cogwell train will drop you off right at the hotel for CHF20. The winter schedule frequency of trains that actually stop at the Legendaer is every 30 minutes at best but more often hourly and with large gaps of several hours throughout the day. This also makes it difficult for going to/from the slopes. The 12 minute walk from the train station starts through the city and then goes into a steep forest climb with 7 switchbacks and 6 flights of stairs. One of the arrow sign on the path is misleading at night. There are taxis, despite what staff told us, but they can only drop you off at the edge of the forest for CHF 25. The game room is quite sparse.
Beautiful view. Clean and modern. Well equipped. Spacious studio. Friendly manager. Great pool and jacuzzi.

SwitzerlandDon't stay at Legendar if you need to go back and forth to your hotel/condo other than the very beginning (the train only comes 1X at 8:10 am or at 10:10 am) and then after 14:00, and then it only runs a few times per hour and then 1X per hour after 16:00. What you should know ahead of time is that the train service is severely limited and there is no alternative way to get from Legendar to Zermatt by foot/taxi or bus that does not involve an extremely steep hike. So with ski equipment or boots, you are limited to the train. If you have any disability (e.g., knee or leg injury or any immobility), staying there will be extremely difficult.
Slopes were great. Restaurants were great.

United StatesIf you miss the gornergrat train, walking up the steep snowy path from the main road is no fun - especially with bags. Plan your trip accordingly!
If you are skiing, the private platform for the gornergrat rail is absolutely stellar for getting you to the slope. You can almost fall out of bed onto the train and end up at the top of the mountain before anyone else.

United StatesMake sure you take the train to the resort. You can buy tickets when you get there easily and the train drops you right at the front door. There is a very steep path which is the only other way to the property. It is a beautiful walk but not with luggage. Taxis will say they can get you there. Don’t listen they cant and you do not want to lug luggage up that hill. You need to take the train which is also beautiful. The manager does laundry for you and turns it around in 2ish hours, really really nice. I have posted a pic of the path so you can see how steep. Wish I had pics from the train such a lovely ride. Also down the path and to the right takes you to the shopping area where you can get food etc pretty easily.

AustraliaThe hotel is located on an elevated position, the road to the hotel at its end (500m) is paved only with gravel. We were afraid our trunks' castors will be left there, but, luckily, all went well. However, because of the challenging road from the village, we were deterred to go down to the village for lunches and shopping. Taxis are not an option, they won't go along this narrow gravel road. No microwave.
Clean large rooms, well equipped kitchen, balconies with outdoor furniture where we could have a dinner with a mountain view. Pool is clean and quite large, kids enjoyed it every day after long walks in the mountains. The manager, Paula, was very nice, she did our laundry (wash, dry and fold) for CHF15, relieving us from the necessity to go down to the village and find a laundromat.

United KingdomThe walk up the apartments from Zermatt is not nice, it is a very steep zig zag path. You can catch a train from zermatt to the legendar but these trains are extremely expensive and very infrequent. The pool can not be used before midday which is not great if you are an early riser. You have to strip your beds and bring used sheets and towels to the laundry room before you leave and also pay a housekeeping fee at the end of your stay which is not something I’ve ever experienced before.
The apartment was clean and modern, lovely view of the matterhorn, the pool was very nice.

AustraliaThere was too much asked of guests including undertaking a full inventory of the apartment contents on arrival and departure. The inventory provided was out of date so it was also a waste of our time - we ended up having to update a whole heap of things down to the number of knives and forks so that we wouldn't be charged for the discrepancies at the end. Also just a heads up this is a self sufficient apartment - you will need to make your own beds and take the rubbish out etc. but this is what keeps it affordable. A final note that you have to pay to catch the small train from town that stops just outside the apartment, or you can walk up the hill from town which is very doable but quite a hike! Overall, we didn't find it a welcoming experience but the views and the apartment itself definitely made it worth it.
Great location on the hill with view of the Matterhorn. Good facilities, clean, a pool and spa downstairs, and a lovely apartment overall.

Taiwanwe have to make our beds by ourselves after check in and put all the trash to the garbage can in the rail station before we leave. And we also need to take all the sheets to the laundry room by ourselves before check out as well. Also all the guests have to pay chf17 for one way single rail ticket (Gornergrate Bahn)to get this apartment, otherwise you have to take a 10 minute walk from the Zermatt city center up to the apartment in the hill.
