We didnt like the atmosphere. Maybe we werent lucky, but the hostel is presented as very social but ut wasnt during our stay. It seemed like a normal hotel with shared rooms. Also, the shower on our floor was only cold (i waited 15 minutes and still cold) and the kitchen was not equipped well. We wanted to wash our clothes (on friday) and they told us its full and we can do it on monday! Luckily, they found some space for us, but still it was pretty annoying and strange.

The building is amazing, it is huge and very colourful. The location is great, but if you have light sleep, dont go here - there is lots of bars in the street so it gets very noisy. But there are very nice patios, games you can borrow and the hostel offers nice service.

The area is quite sketchy, didn’t feel safe at night there. Just be careful if you’re staying there. Only social event was on friday night, rooms were very hot

its an old building probably in need of a refurb, but it was kept clean and the vibe of the place made up for it.

it had a lively bar and lots of activities planned every evening, but there were also lots of common areas to chill quietly away from the bar.

- We didn't know about the location prior to going. it seems to be where all the bars/clubs are. You can here the music coming from all of this places throughout the hostel as well as there own. I did put my headphones in to drown at the music and that seemed to work.

- The staff here were really friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. They were honestly really great. - Location is great. only a 20 min walk to the main Plaza. - The offered free ear plugs. They do play loud music right until the really early hours of the evening. - Hostel is super social.

Although the hostel is in the ‘nightlife area’ we couldn’t hear any noise from our bedroom. Would avoid walking alone at night but the staff inform you of this too.

Curtains on the bed would be nice and rooms above reception are noisy. Also showers make the floor so wet, need longer shower curtains or higher walls to block the water

Staff and volunteers are super friendly and helpful. When I needed to switch rooms they were so kind. The rooms at the back of the building are the best as they’re further from the noise and are more comfortable. Rooms have heaters and bathrooms hot water which is great. Well equipped kitchen, safe location in the day (don’t recommend walking anywhere at night in Santiago) near bars, restaurants and the metropolitan park

Be aware, in winter, it's cold inside:) - as it is an old building, there was not a lof of isolation in the room so it was cold at night, but the staff try their best by providing a small heater and blankets (the hot shower is working well!).

Very good social hostel. The staff is welcoming, attentive, friendly and make you feel at home. The hostel is big, lots of nice different rooms to use. For the social part, free shots from 9pm every 2 hours, and every night there was a free food activity offered (asado, sopaipillas and hot wine, how to make a ceviche) followed by games, pub crawls, etc. Always in a very friendly and kind atmosphere. The 4 beds room was comfortable, and quite, far from the bar area. Strongly recommend for solo travellers who wants to socialise.

Some rooms can get a bit cold at night. Not the cheapest hostel but worth it for the vibe!

Absolutely brilliant location, quiet street but just around the corner from the main bar/club area. The staff and volunteers are phenomenal, super friendly and helpful, becoming more like friends. The hostel is super social, easy to make friends as a solo traveller. Free shots every night (light stuff haha) and the common areas are great. Beds are comfy. BBQ nights and pub crawls are organised from time to time.

Location isn't the best... Some rooms will get noise till late at night coz it's located next to a loud pub.

Had an amazing stay here. Hostel is located in a very big old house with a lot of places to chill out. Very social vibe, good for solo travelers. At night the bar is open and people chilling out in the garden. Beds are very comfortable and because of the layout of the rooms there is quite some privacy as well. They let us store our luggage here while in Valparaiso which is also very nice. Would definitely recommend!

The bathrooms were a bit gross. It was a shared bathroom and the shower and bathroom would always flood from people not using it correctly. There were a fair few bugs in there too. One shower was just a pipe sticking out of the wall.

The room was comfortable, it was a good location we walked everywhere.

The hostel itself seems like it could need some major renovations. The rooms were super cold and my bed was kinda dirty, there were a lot of stains and hair on it. Not the most comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom was really small and not super clean. There was no place to put your stuff down at all. Even though there were activities, it just wasn’t a very social vibe, but maybe that’s because I went there off season.

The overall facility is really nice and fun. They had activists offered at night which was cool.

Not enough hot water. Showers were not even warm quite often. Wifi wasn't very strong in the middle rooms. Need another router or booster somewhere in there.

Staff was GREAT. Always willing to help and go the extra mile. Plenty of recommendations of things to do, places to see, and to help take care of you. Plenty to do in the area and they always have things happening in the bar. Bar is far enough away to not affect anyone's sleep so they could party as they liked and Plenty of other areas to relax in if that is more your thing.

The hostel is very clean, but the building is old, so just be aware of that if you are staying there. It's nothing fancy, but still a great place to stay and meet people.

The social atmosphere at this hostel is second to none. I met so many great people while staying there, including the staff. I would highly recommend La Chimba, especially if you're traveling alone or with a friend and looking to meet people. I had so much fun!
