English speaking skills of staff

Breakfast was not really western style, if you are looking for it. View and room were amazing. Staff is very friendly but they hardly speak any English even at the reception. So you must have a translation app installed.

Room was a bit smaller than similar hotels we tried in China. Also, two normal coffees (not decaf) in each room would be nice (instead of just one).

The internet didn't go well, usually it was a total crap, and despite I am Platinum Elite member the staff said it doesn't count because I booked the room through booking.com. Interesting....

The location of the hotel was excellent, and the staff were nice. The breakfast was good. The room was reasonable and the bed was great. The view was nice from the room.

1) Unpleasant experience with staff at rooftop bar. Due to flight scheduled at night, we had many hours to kill after checkout. Reception was very nice and offered us to wait at rooftop bar. As we were entering, we were very rudely stopped by a male bar manager claiming we don’t have room card and treated us like we trying to give him excuses to get a free pass in. Eventually sorted out with reception. Unacceptable customer service and no apology whatsoever! 2) Very average buffet breakfast. Restaurant staff unattentive and constantly playing with their mobile phones.

The position is excellent, a very comfortable bed with 4 types of pillows, the view from the gym, dining room or from the top of the hotel is famous.Brekfast and room service very good.

- We found some trash behind the curtains fro the previous guest. - TV in the bathroom didn’t work - The bathtub switch tap was stuck so we couldn’t use the shower hand thing and also, filling up the bathtub took a while. - Night staff couldn’t speak well english - There were small things in the room that needed fixings like: water damage on the wooden counter of the bathroom, automated toilet doesn’t close or open the lid (its gets stuck), old broken makeup table area closed off by big glass dining table with chairs, bed light with broken off cord (pull to turn the lights on), All these smalls things gave me a feeling that the room was getting outdated. But great experience overall!

- Luxurious entry, help with the luggage. - We had beautiful river view of Shanghai Tower & co that we couldn’t get enough from. - The room was beautiful and we had our own walk-in closet. - We loved the spacious bathroom with own TV and the different shower rain modes - At the entrance there was room for cars to drop off and pick-up, perfect as taxi spot. - Great, friendly day staff where we could communicate with and fast service. - Great location

More English speaking staff at the front desk

I arrived in the middle of the night and once I got to my room it smelled like cigarette smoke. The next day when the manager was on duty, he changed my room and upgraded me to a suite. Customer service means everything to me and I will most certainly stay at the Indigo Hotel next time I visit Shanghai. The room was amazing and the view was spectacular. Indigo Hotel was located in a very convenient location

Bar and Resturant costs expensive and often found it difficult to communicate. They did not have a dedicated tourist service.

There is not a place like a living room in the lobby, I went to the bar on the 30th, but very expensive.

My room was vey nice and comfortable, bathroom was cool with tub and shower.

Breakfast had a reasonable but very average selection of luke warm food. Restaurant had terrific views but horrendous decor. We ate in top restaurant first night, it was very expensive for average meal, but did have fabulous views. Very few staff spoke English which coupled with being unable to use Google (in China) made things difficult. I asked for tourist information and hotel only supplied a map. On last day we found someone who spoke English who advised us to use search engine “Edge” which enabled us to explore better.

We liked the location, lovely views and good to walk along the Bund.

The extra deposit 200 euros (for two nights), which takes time to be released. If you have 5 différent hôtels during your trip, it is 1000 euros only for the deposits. Far away from public transport if it rains.

The view from the room is quite nice, especially the night view. The location is also good, it is very convenient to go other places in Shanghai.

I felt the hotel facilities were lacking for the star rating and cost. The pool area was only open 8am-8pm, which meant I was unable to use it, I would have expected an earlier opening at least. In addition, I attempted to order room service which the menu stated was available till 10pm, but when I called at 9.40pm was informed it had closed already. I also couldn't get the hairdryer to work when I was leaving at 7am and was initially told I would have to wait for housekeeping to come in at 9am, they did come up and fix the issue, but took a bit of convincing. Finally, I ordered a glass of Rose prosecco at the bar, and they gave me a regular prosecco and then stated they didn't have any Rose. All small things, and in isolation wouldn't have bothered me, but together left me frustatrated.

The location was perfect for what I wanted, right next to the Pier for the Bund Cruise and walking distance to Yu Gardens and a nice food market. The room was exceptional, the check in staff upgraded my room and it really was fantastic, great size and facilities, and beautiful view of the Bund. The Char bar also had an amazing view of the Bund.
