We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. SpainAbsolutely nothing to complain about.
Kasa d'Vizin is an amazing place in a wonderful island in a great country. In the hotel they offer good advise to visit Santo Antao, and also they provide help when you need it. In my case, after my air company had lost my luggage, Ruben, the manager has been patient enough to let me call every single day from the hotel to the companies and the airports to track where my suitcase could be. He also helped me to find the medicines I needed and where left in the luggage but, most of all, he listened, he cared and he provided comfort. Beside that, Kasa d'Vizin is in the middle of the amazing Vale de Paúl, a place everyone should visit in his or her life. The hostel provides with excellent dinner, and the breakfast are huge, hand-made by those magnificient ladies and served in a terrace with sights to a heaven-like landscape. Guys, you are the best! Muito obrigado, Ruben, os meus parabéns para voce e para as senhoras. Tenho saudade!

CanadaNo hot water :) if they could have hot water this place would be a 10. After a long day of hiking that really was not fun to have a cold shower. But I still very much enjoyed this place.
This place is so magical.. the rooftop is really the most amazing view of the valley at sunset. Value for money hands down this is the spot to be if you’re hiking a few days in Paul. They have a bar upstairs with food and drinks, super fun and friendly staff. Food is really good, vegetarian but hearty.

EstoniaUnforgettable views from the room and terrace. Quiet and peaceful, only beautiful birdsong waking up in the morning. Perfect for access to hiking trails and for seeing and experiencing authentic life in the valley. Best breakfast I have had :) and delicious food at dinner too. Warmly recommend!

SwitzerlandThe location at the beginning of the Paul valley is perfect for some nice hikes. You can even book a guided hiking tour through the hotel. Our appartement was very charming & thoughtfully equipped. We had everything a traveller needs. The rooftop terrace was a lovely place to stay & the team served very good food - eventhough we are not vegans. ;-) It was very generous to have free supply of drinking water & fruits which we appriciated a lot. Hannelore & the team were very friendly, especially Ruben was very attentative & easy to talk to.

United KingdomI can't think of anything!
Hannalore was so helpful - both before we arrived (arranged a taxi with 2 days of touring around the beautiful area). When we arrived 3 out of 5 of us were unwell and were especially well looked after. The location is fabulous as was the food. So beautiful - we were lucky to have perfect weather.

United KingdomBeautiful property, very well run by Hannelore and her friendly professional staff Superb views from the roof terrace, beautiful room, enjoyable breakfast (particularly the lentil pancakes), good WiFi, laid back vibe and we also enjoyed the dinner very much. The property specialises in vegan food. As a vegetarian I enjoyed it. My only criticism overall would be the room and dinner are a bit overpriced (for backpacking not short holidays) although with only a handful of rooms I understand this. If you don't want to dine on the roof terrace, which is very enjoyable, you can always go elsewhere. Overall, a lovely place to stay which perfectly compliments the absolutely outstanding Paul Valley.

Kaas d’Vizin is a beautiful stay in the mountains, the room is very spacious, was super clean and is nicely decorated just as the whole house is. Very enjoyable rooftop restaurant with nice view on mountains. Food was absolutely great, all vegan which we did not know and honestly did hardly notice! Very friendly staff

BelgiumHot water supply is sometimes limited in the area. The mattress was too soft (for our taste)
Nicely decorated and practical studio in a stunning location, especially convenient for hikers. Very helpful and friendly staff, providing us with plenty of good advice. It makes an excellent base to explore the island.

United KingdomNothing really, The food is vegan, just for everybody to know. The dinner was delicious, for breakfast I would have preferred something more hearty, but it was very much OK..
The owners, Hannelore, a Belgian lady and her Cape Verdian husband, were exceptional in reacting to any question I had before my stay, While I was very happy with Casa Cavoquinho, further up the valley, when I arrived, this property never answered to any question before my arrival, and I was not sure whether they are even open. Hannelore always answered and gave me reassurance, which I will always appreciate. Very nice property in a small village near the coast, great small room, wonderful roof terrace for breakfast. I was the only guest for dinner (no other place in the village) but was provided with a great meal.

Cape VerdeI just finished my second stay at Kasa d Vizin as a solo traveler, and it was just as fantastic as the first time! Nestled in the stunning Paul Valley, the views are breathtaking and the peaceful atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The guesthouse itself is comfortable, clean, and charmingly decorated, with a laid-back vibe that instantly puts you at ease. My room had everything I needed to feel right at home. I was pleasantly surprised by the vegan meals; even though I don’t usually eat plant-based, the food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Breakfast was a real treat and the perfect start to my day. The staff were friendly and welcoming, always ready to offer great tips for exploring the area and ensuring I had everything I needed. Their recommendations truly enhanced my experience. Overall, Kasa d Vizin is the place to be when you’re in Santo Antão, regardless of your dietary preferences. I left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to plan my next visit!

Can't speak of this place more highly: - Absolutely incredible hospitality. The owners ensured that we had accommodation at every point of our trek across the island, calling numbers and going out of their way to make sure that we had certainty in our travel plans. They also had really helpful handouts and more than enough information on neighbouring trails and activities to do. - Beautiful rooms. Extremely clean, super comfortable and very well furnished. - Great food. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast and it was a welcome change to have vegetarian food. Overall, you NEED to stay at this place if you visit the Paùl Valley!!!! We were so impressed. The owners are absolutely amazing

GermanyThe kitchen staff (which is absolutely lovely!) doesn't understand English but that's really nitpicking as this is common in Cape Verde and things such as Google Translate exist to make communication possible.
I spent one night in the single room but I was happy to see that it had a double bed (in which I slept as a baby). As a female solo traveller I find it very important to feel safe and I did feel very safe at Kasa d'Vizin. I was able to enjoy the terrace and the view and was served a very tasty dinner after. At breakfast there is lots of choice and I was told I could take anything I wanted to eat during my hike. I also refilled my water bottle for free. In my room I found a document where I could list my food allergies. I myself don't have any but I found it very thoughtful as I do have relatives with food allergies who sometimes struggle on holidays.

NetherlandsNothing can be improved. BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS REALLY PERFECT. IMAGINE HEAVEN.
A fantastic stay. I enjoyed every second of it. I travelled to 100 countries and this was really a very special location! Extraordinary views in the mountains. Very pittoresque. Friendly staff. Beautiful rooms. Diverse dinners, very tasty veganistic meals. Restaurant on the roofterrace. Beds with blankets, practical for the chilly evenings. Staff is very friendly. I like the concept of writing down your drinks and snacks, after the staff left. And pay at check out. Also in the rooms all kind of extra details in products to make your stay cosey and pleasant. Very well thought about everything. PARADISE!

Everything, from the view to the staff to the food, exceeded my expectations. Friendly and knowledgeable people, willing to help with anything you might have questions about from hikes in the environment to transport to laundry. The food is vegan but varied, nutritious, with local ingredients and most of all DELICIOUS - yesterday I had banana flambee for dessert (with local grog!) and I wish I could have it every day. Would definitely recommend this place, they have a few different sized rooms and an apartment so they're capable of hosting different types of travellers with different needs or requirements. There's a rooftop terrace where you can have a drink and chill, work, or have dinner/breakfast and the view is unbeatable. The wifi works well which to me is also important.

United KingdomDidn’t matter to me as a single male traveller, but may to some, that my room looked on to a corridor and balcony that others used.
Impeccably clean, very helpful people, very tasty (vegan) food that suited me fine as a not necessarily vegan.

Bosnia and Herzegovinawe liked absolutely everything about this hotel
everything. beautiful, modern, well kept hotel in a beautiful location with amazing views. they gave us free room upgrade -- we got a very nice 2 bedroom apartment with balcony w amazing views instead of a double room :-) extremely helpful owner. they have driver, organize tour guide (eg for hiking), theres a restaurant on the terrace on the top of the hotel with beuatiful views that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. the food was exteremly delicious -- fresh local healthy products. every single detail in the hotel is carefully thought of: there were free sunscreen dispensers in the hotel(!), mosquito repellents in every room, free purified water dispensers. our apartment came with a kitchen that had an oven, big fridge and all utensils. the shower was excellent as well (good pressure, clean, as much hot water as you like). if you come here, you dont have to take care of anything, everything is organized for you :-) we had an excellent driver edson that we can strongly recommend, if you would like somebody to show you around the island or to drive you to hikes, he really went above and beyond :-), even took us to some short hikes, told us about local history, waited us to take a million of photos... if you would like a guide, we can strongly recommend claudio who took us for a day hike in the paul valley (where hes from and where he knows everybody) -- he taught us about local flora, culture etc... and he spoke excellent spanish and english (I think he also speaks fluent french). he was a trully excellent guide!

one of the best hotels that we ever stayed in!!! clean, modern, new, situated in the beautiful paul valley with excellent views from the terrace. they also organize tours/drivers for you for a very good price. Edson our driver was the best :-) always on time, waiting for us to take photos and even doing short hikes with us to make sure that we dont get lost, we can highly recommend his services if you are staying in the hotel. all staff was super nice and helpful, the hotel owner who we called before our trip as we had so many questions, ladies in the restaurant, the young man who was in charge after the owner left (sorry forgot the name!) who gave us so many excellent tips for hiking and who would always come to talk to us on the terrace to see if we had any questions. frankly, it deserves more than a 10!
