Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyDue to the age of the house no elevator. Very narrow cobblestone street. Hard to get there with a car. Parking 250m away. Absolutely no wheelchair access.
Good breakfast. The house was build in the 16th century and rebuild in the 19th century. Very rustic but very clean. Beautiful basement (16thcentury) restaurant and bar. Good quality food at medium price range.

New ZealandThe wifi failed several times over our two days and took a few hours to come right- it seemed to be throughout the hotel and we heard others speaking about it. I hope they get that fixed soon
Hotel had so much character- much better than a generic accomodation. The whole place really felt like it was out of a different age, and amazingly decorated, but not at all warn out and very clean. This combination made it one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Bed was very comfortable, view over Monschou was great Continental breakfast was good Staff were very friendly throughout our stay- some spoke only a bit of English, but were committed to working through the language barrier for us

United KingdomMain description says Parking, but there's only public parking 5 minutes walk away. A bit difficult to find- maybe the sat navs fault though.
Only a short walk to the centre of the village. Lovely historic building. Good breakfast.

BelgiumIf only the host and hostess would smile, even just once 😊. Under their reproachful eyes, I felt I had done something wrong or was about to do something wrong. Yet I believe they love their guests, from the way the fruit salad at breakfast was minutely prepared.
Big room with comfortable bed. Very quiet at night to sleep. Good breakfast in a beautiful and elegant room. A fairy tale spot as a stop over on a hiking trip.

PortugalThe pillows and the mattresses were not really comfortable, the lady at reception showed no openness to speak English (which we knew already going in) but was kind of harsh even when we made the effort to speak German (they did not let us keep our bags there the day we checked out for just a few hours to visit the city)
Good breakfast (with breads, hams, cheese, eggs, jams, etc but nothing really sweet like croissants or sugary things), the room was pleasant and warm, the hotel was in a very good location.

United KingdomAccess by car to the hotel was on the narrowest streets I have ever seen. Had to park at the tiny multi story car park ( with the smallest parking spaces I have ever seen) and then drag our bags 400meters cobble streets uphill in the rain. One could manage the road by car but distance sensors bleeping all the way. Monschau did not shine in the rain , bit like Blaenau Festiniog on a bad day. Probably nice in nice weather. Not a wide range of eateries and getting in was difficult as dinner time approached. No food available at the hotel Eventually ate at the Hotel Horchem which was excellent and good value. Done Monschau won't be doing it again. Lack of English by the patron did not help in finding the way to the hotel but I would not expect many hoteliers in England to speak German. Sat Nav would not send me down the narrow streets I actually needed to go down.
Not much, not helped by terrible weather. The hotel is quaint but seriously outdated even for a "quaint" hotel. Like stepping back in time. It does have character. Good breakfast in a nice dining room Overall quite pricey for what was on offer.

NetherlandsThe staff either cannot or will not speak english which makes it very hard for someone from a different country to communicate with them. When checking out I forgot my creditcard pin and the lady at the front desk treated me in an irritated way even though I managed to pay with a bank card eventually.
Beautiful old building and the interior style matches very well. Everything is very neat and well maintained. It was also super clean.
