At the end of a long road on a forest ridge above Furtwangen, between the source of the Danube (how cool is that?) and an ancient chapel. Typical of the best of German Gasthouses. Spotless, well equipped room with balcony and the best filled mini-bar ever. Very friendly staff and a nice though very busy restaurant. Good breakfast.

The mountain road (last 1.7 km) is tricky. If you are a novice driver, it is challenging.

The house is amazing, restaurant is the examplary of a German cuisine. Hosts are very sweet in a natural manner, doing their best to take care of their guests. The gasthaus has a sauna. Room was good.

The main attraction was only a few steps away from the hotel entrance, while there was also plenty of tracks for cycling or hiking up and down the hills. Absolutely dog friendly, everywhere was welcome except the two anti-allergen rooms. Fantastic views from balcony rooms. Very understanding, ready to help and friendly staff.

the room was a bit small. the restaurant was closed for three days during our stay (but they were kind enough to call us on beforehand to let us know!) and the sauna was under renovation. breakfast was a bit limited.

Amazing location right next to the Donauqelle, super quiet and at the start of many hiking routes which was amazing with our two dogs. They were allowed to join for a plus of €10 per night and we had a balcony with an amazing view which was great for them too! All of the staff we met during our stay was super friendly.

Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. The only place you will ever need when searching for a introduction into the Black Forest. Nature. Close to all the highlights of the area. And beautiful scenery on your doorstep.

The room was not clean enough. We did comment to the host about it and they cleaned it again. But even after that we found dirty underwear ( from previous guest) in the shower under the sink... So having said all that - the cleaning needs better attention!

The stuff was extremely kind and helpful. Location was perfect.

The curtains on the bedroom were extremely thin. They let in a lot of light in the morning so no sleeping in unless you have a face mask. The hotel aesthetic was very cozy but the rooms didn't have the same appearance. They were going through a different look with the bedroom. The bedroom didn't fit the nice look of the rest of the hotel. Beds were below-average in comfort. Water pressure was a little low. There is a small mini-refrigerator but it is totally filled with things they want to sell you. Very little to no room to put your own food/drinks. The worst thing is that the internet didn't work 95% of the time I was there. In 2022 it isn't just a minor inconvenience, it is a safety issue. Most travelers rely on using a laptop for work/entertainment so not having internet hurt both of those aspects. That means, no booking flights, no anything with the internet :( The lounge room had a lot of dvd cases but all of the ones I checked were empty. Which means that someone either stole them, or the owner keeps them somewhere. I don't know. If they can get cozier beds/furniture, and fix the internet then this would be an amazing place to stay.

The breakfast was average for European breakfasts. Exactly what a European traveller would expect. Nothing particularly special. The overall aesthetic of the hotel, restaurant area and outdoors was very nice. There was a nice guest lounge area with a long table and a sitting area with a tv. The location is close to a few places worth visiting ie: triberg. There was nothing wrong with the bathroom. It had everything you needed.
