Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Landhaus Engel was one of the highlights of my trip accross Germany. Set deep in the woods of the Black Forest it represents the best of family run German inns. A great welcome (in good English) clean, comfortable and quiet rooms of a generous size (mine with a kitchenette, and seating area) loads of hot water in a walk-in shower, an excellent restaurant well utilised by the locals. Everything just as it should be. I was also given a covered slot for my motorcycle. Well done all round!!

United States of AmericaAll the rooms were the perfect mix of traditional charm and modern comfort. The restaurant on the first floor of the hotel was absolutely exceptional. Dishes were prepared with ingredients from the area. There’s also a beautiful garden in the back, where we had some of our meals. You can hike by just stepping out of the door, since the surrounding area is absolutely gorgeous. This was a great find!

HungaryNot the fault of the accommodation, but bells were ringing in a nearby church from very early morning, so it was impossible to rest with the window open
Our room was in the new building, beautiful, spacious, very clean. The surroundings are pleasant, the breakfast is appropriate. It was nice to sit on the terrace of the restaurant in the evening.

GermanyOne of our windows refused to stay open. The beams in the room were lovely, but a tiny risk for whoever slept on the left,if they should get up in the night!
Landhaus Engel is off the beaten track,so beautifully quiet. From our window we could see a field with horses and their foals. An idyllic scene. The accommodation managed to mix rustic with comfort. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, the bathroom classy with anthracite tiling, but not "clinical". The exposed wooden beams lent the room a lot of character. Breakfast was good and appetising in particular as the impression was that all had been very freshly prepared,e.g raw veg, fruit salad. The "host" was friendly and attentive. Angels were visible ,but always tastefully distributed . The wings on the terrace I particularly liked!

Belgiumunfortunately the restaurant was closed due to a jubilee of the hotel (10y), there was only BBQ......so we couldn't enjoy their good cuisine. tip for the owner : "next time just let us know, than we could have changed the date" nevertheless they were very understanding !!! we had a good beer and some typical German music in the evening.
big room, very clean, no airco needed very friendly staff. very good breakfast

Germanyabsolutely nothing!
This property tucked away in the German countryside was perfect! It is 20 minutes from Hohenzollern Castle and a couple other castles and an easy drive. the hotel itself was warm and welcoming with an old country feel with wood beams inside the room and throughout the building. room was spotless with a huge shower and every amenity in the room to include magnifying mirror! The restaurant was fantastic both for dinner and then for the breakfast that comes with the room!
