Idyllic Escape at Fata Morgana – Highly Recommend! I recently had the pleasure of staying at Fata Morgana in Las Terrenas, and it was a truly relaxing and memorable experience. The property is set in a serene, idyllic location with lush surroundings that immediately put you at ease. A highlight for me was the presence of two friendly donkeys that roam the grounds—they added such a charming and peaceful vibe to the stay! I traveled without children but brought along my small dog, who was warmly welcomed. The proprietor was incredibly hospitable and multilingual, which made communication effortless. She’s also a certified tour guide for the Dominican Republic, and her local knowledge was invaluable. She even assisted us with arranging a car rental, which made getting around much easier. The accommodations are individual bungalows—clean, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out with private bathrooms. I also really appreciated the communal kitchen and dining area, which included a lovely porch where guests could relax, cook, and connect. Fata Morgana has a calm, authentic charm that’s perfect for those looking to unwind and experience the true spirit of Las Terrenas. I would absolutely stay here again.

It was a amazing place to stay, the animals are lovely and the garden is really nice and relaxing. The communal areas are nice as it makes you interact with other travellers and hear there stories and tell you about places to visit. The staff and owner where really nice, Edit (the owner) is very helpful with her 5 language and experience as a guide.

I had arrived to the property later than I told the host, because when your traveling things don’t always go according to plan. I tried to call 5 times, and also texted once, to which nobody responded.. until the next day. When I arrived there was nobody to receive me and a woman in the house just ignored me, and I was left to wait until I was eventually let in by one of the long term tenants. When the host arrived on the property later that night she scolded me as if she was my mom, which I did not appreciate. Flexibility with check in and communication needs improvement here if you want to run an accommodation business. Answering your phone would be a good start!

It’s a great place to stay, extremely clean and well Maintained property. It is a little farther out from town but also closer to playa coson and playa Bonita. It’s also easy to find. The room was very comfortable and spacious and well worth the money, very cheap for what you get. Drinking water available in the shared kitchen. Hot water in shower.

The bed could have been a bit more comfortable. Next door, over the wall, the workmen started a little early, but that was out of the hosts control. The distance to the beaches was farther than we had anticipated.

The quaint cottages and garden were very pleasant. The other guests were friendly and the interaction in the common kitchen was enjoyable. The host is an animal rescuer and had a number of friendly dogs and two donkeys who wandered the premises.

The estimate of distance to the beach was optimistic. We had cash, but were not advised by site description on Booking.com that credit cards were not accepted.

The property is a bit out of the way, far from downtown and the beach, but not that quiet either. I wouldn't necessarily have wanted to stay there for a long stay, but perfect for my last night in Las Terrenas

Good value for the price, I got there later at night and left early so didn't get a chance to use the amenities or look around the property. I appreciated that the host helped me with securing a moto-taxi

My second stay here...I love this place it is an oasis of calm; the airy cabanas are set in beautiful gardens, with the sweetest rescue animals to hang out with! All is very clean, the kitchen large, the internet stable (usually : ) ) and the owner very kind. I will definitely stay here again on my return.

This was not a problem for me but some people might find the place a bit far from north of las terrenas, where animation takes place with bars and restaurants. I was walking there pretty much every day and this is a 25 min walk, but moto taxi can bring you there quickly for a cheap price. On the other side, being a bit far from the North saves you from all the noise of the city, which is pretty impressive here :)

Pretty much everything, this is a hidden gem in Las Terrenas if you're looking for peacefulness after a day at the beach or hanging out in the busy part of the city. The place only has a few small houses that you will feel like home. Animal lovers you will be in paradise :) The shared kitchen is a big plus, fully equiped. Not far from the place you can find people selling fruits and vegetables on the side of the road. Also the place is well located to go to playa bonita, it is a 25 min walk or 5-10 min with a moto taxi. Finally, it is the perfect place if you are a digital nomad or remote worker, and the internet connection is good enough for your daily tasks, including video calls.
