Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceI slept only one night and had a good stay, but will review for future travelers to know what to expect fairly. The restricted time to use the kitchen facilities can be very limiting, even though I understand the reason for it as one of the staff members sleeps in the common area, it should not have an impact on how the guests can use it (to have access to the fridge early morning when checking out for example). It is also not allowed to truly cook in this kitchen, therefore I would say this should be advertised as a kitchen with limited use since it can only be used to warm up things in the microwave or to cook eggs, that’s it. I did appreciate the emphasis on security and rules, which made the stay feel very safe and clean, but it is also removing a lot the friendly hostel vibe that can be encountered in the more common concept of hostels, however as I stayed only one night, it was perfect for me. Little minuses are also the limited possibility to use the common space and the lack of curtains in the room for privacy.
I stayed in a female dorm and it was one of the cleanest dorms I have ever stayed in. Having a private toilet inside our dorm was a big big plus. The bed was comfy and the staff was very helpful in setting the temperature right for a comfy night. Big lockers available, very well organised hostel, helpful staff, little terrace access from the dorm, spacious rooms and good location make reasons for this hostel to be a good choice.

ItalyThe common area and the showers close at 23.30. this means that if you dine at a Spanish time and you indulge in a drink at the pub, you end up needing to shower the following morning. The owners are most of the evening occupying the common area with a romantic attitude, so that it is embarrassing to go there to read a book (you would need to leave at 23.30 anyway, which is the moment they leave the room). Shower curtains are filthy and the whole shower experience is not comfortable. The toilet room (luckily open h24) is no more than ok. Two WCs are probably a bit scarce when the hostel is fully booked.
The place is close to the main attractions of the city. The beds are fairly comfortable and very sturdy. There are cabinets you can close with a lock (if you don't have one, they give you one with a 10€ deposit).

United KingdomSome staff members were unhelpful. Lots of strange rules around the kitchen and also, shower and kitchen opening times in an hostel do not make sense. The place is advertised as having a terrace but it doesn't really have a terrace. There's also rules around that too. Having curtains on beds, would also help with privacy and accommodate different time routine among guests.
Female staff was extremely helpful. Location is great. Female room was spacious.

NetherlandsThe listing said "breakfast included," but it was not what we expected. The food consisted of toast, questionable-looking ham and cheese, and some cereal and milk. If you wanted the "good" coffee, you had to pay for it. However, there was a refrigerator in the kitchen, so we ended up buying some groceries, making our own breakfast, and buying coffee at local cafes in the neighborhood. The room had two fans, but I found it quite stuffy and hot at night. The beds were clean, but not comfortable. All the guests followed the rules, but some were MUCH louder than others. I would suggest bringing earplugs and an eye mask if you're a light sleeper.
Don Moustache is in a great location. The neighborhood was beautiful, with plenty of places nearby to shop, eat, and drink. The hostel itself was very clean, and Vihangie (who worked at reception) was kind and helpful. The property had security cameras and I felt safe both inside the hostel and walking around the neighborhood at night.

BulgariaThe bathrooms were dirty. There were no bed curtains. It looks like something unsegnificant but it can improve a lot the stay for everyone. It brings privacy and you do not bother the rest of the people by turning on the light. There are a lot of beds and just one WC. It could be a bit uncomfortable during the high season.
The location is great. There was no need to use public transport. The shared rooms are not mixed. And they do respect that.

NetherlandsI can not think of one thing that I didnt like in the time that i stayed there.
Location was good. I Just had to search a little bit for the front door. Hostel was very clean and the facilities were good even when the building/inside was what old. Breakfast was good .there were 2 kinds of bread that you can toast. Cheese or ham? To choose from etc. you could take cereal / Milk/juice/ thee of coffee. Or make your own meal in the kitchen. Stuff that you bought like food you could place in there. The employees were very open to help you with all the questions that you have. The time I was there it wasnt busy so that was Nice. Every day I got new sheets on the bed.

United KingdomThe shower room was smaller than expected. And there are no shelves to put clothes, so it would be good to bring your stuff in bags that can be hung on hooks.
Staff were helpful. At check-in, they explained in detail about each room, including the common areas and shower rooms. They also advised us about famous tourist attractions.

United KingdomThe set of rules as soon as I got there to be downloaded on me. I felt like I was in high school, I understand most of them but not being able to cook and use the kitchen which you advertise online is false advertising. Let me explain that every hostel has one kitchen and loads of people staying there and everyone gets by ok by sharing space and waiting to use it and cleaning up after themselves so this rule not being able to cook because theres lot of people is ridiculous and also considering there was hardly anyone staying there it was silly. The showers were very average and old.
The rooms were cleaned well and the bathroom in the room was nice. The kitchen area is clean and the one common overnight staff member was very nice.
