Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyVery good location next to a busy road. If you are disturbed by car noise: bring ear plugs or ask for a room not facing the street. Otherwise very pleasent stay: would come back.

CanadaEl Zaguan is a charming small hotel conveniently situated on a quiet street in the central historic area. It is reasonably priced, particularly considering its prime location, with easy access to tourist sites, restaurants, bars and shopping. My room on the second floor was clean and cozy. I enjoyed great sleeps, as the bed was super comfy and the room at night was quiet and dark. The staff is warm, welcoming and responsive to needs and requests. The host, Ignacio was exceptionally personable and hospitable. He provided great information and tips on restaurants/tapa bars, inexpensive places to buy food, and bus routes to access tourist sites. He went out of his way to ensure that my stay at the hotel and my visit to the city were comfortable, safe, and enjoyable. I was very happy with my stay at El Zaguan and highly recommend it to others.

The location is perfect - an easy walk to the centre and in the historic university area, and very close to the train station and bus stops. The hostal is old and charming, and the brothers who run it are very welcoming and kind. My room was small but completely comfortable. Wish I could have stayed longer.

United States of AmericaThe only thing I can think of that would make it even better would be to have coffee/tea and dishes available so that guests could really make use of the patio by bringing in our own breakfasts there.
Simple, clean, and affordable. Great location close to bus to Alhambra and walking distance to Catedral area. Rustic tiles and wood decor. Comfortable patio area. Great staff!

United KingdomThe room was a bit small for the price, and the bed a little uncomfortable. There was some cigarette smoke entering my room from other parts of the building in the first 1.5 days of my stay.
Immaculately clean room, lovely shower and furnishings, very quiet and peaceful, and very warm, friendly staff. Very conveniently located for the train station, and a short walk to the historical centre and Alhambra.

AustriaI can only highly recommend it. It’s super clean, very well located and the host is adorable. I was travelling alone and felt very safe. It’s quiet in the room and you can reach everything by foot. For what you get the price is totally worth it. I am really happy I chose this hotel.

United KingdomNo lift, and stairs are quite steep, not always with handrail rail I couldn't see a hair dryer, which may matter more to others than it did to me...
Perfect location for: - attractive local sites - walking to centre (10mins) - bus to coach station (buses to anywhere in fact!) - not too far from rail station (15 min walk) - cheap local cafés for breakfast (e4.50 for coffee, fresh orange juice, toast) Very friendly and helpful staff (limited English spoken, but lots of good will) Extremely good value for money

SpainThe proprietors were kind and friendly and had some nice details to make my stay even more pleasant. I felt entirely safe and would go back for an easy, quiet, clean, centrally-located, basic place to stay. The shower was hot and the water pressure was good.

United KingdomRoom size was a bit small, but it was only single room and it was a bigger than the room I stayed in a few days later in Málaga! I was ill so spent more time inside than I'd planned to, there wasn't enough space for a chair which would have been nice (there was a bench but not comfortable for sitting).
Location was good, easy to walk to the centre and just a minute from a bus stop to Alhambra. Heater worked well, water pressure in the shower was great and WiFi good enough for video calls. Staff were super nice throughout my stay. Only reason I wouldn't stay again is I'd prefer to just increase my budget, but this is a good value option.

United KingdomThe room was smaller than I'd been led to expect from the details on Booking.com and so narrow that the double bed had to be against a wall - not the best for customers in their 70s.
All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. They provided excellent information where we could have breakfast in a very good local ( not touristy!) cafe with very competitive prices.

GermanyFor me personally the mattress of the bed was a bit too hard.
The room was great value for money and the location is really good. Especially if you travel by public transport. Although I was staying only one night they even let me leave my backpack there for free during the other day. So I could explore the famous Alhambra freely. Very friendly staff. ¡Muchas gracias!

ArgentinaMy only problem was with the tiny shower.
It couldn’t be any cleaner! Everything in the room was absolutely spotless. The bed was very comfortable and there was no noise at night. The owner was very helpful with any questions and the location was extremely convenient for all tourist attractions, being just some 100 m from a major avenue.

United States of AmericaMy only complaint is the loud sound of traffic outside on the cobblestone streets. We were able to close the wooden shutters and the hum of the a/c fan helps to mute the sound.
El Zaguán is the perfect place to stay if you’re on a budget and you want to be in the historic area and fairly close to the Alhambra. The room was simple and traditionally with white walls, tiled floor, wrought iron beds and wooden shutters. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were soft. The shower had great water pressure which was nice. The whole place had the feeling of a traditional and comfortable Spanish home. The best thing about our stay was the incredibly friendly, charismatic, welcoming host, Ignacio. He gave us a map and pointed out places to visit, recommendations, for restaurants, and went out of his way to share this beautiful city with us. We adored him! Thank you.
