LithuaniaHotel halls were dirty, baseboards in the room were very dusty, our bed was only made, not once in our 10 day stay they changed the sheets. In the spa the towels are included but you need a hair cap, it’s a must and they make you pay for it (we were not told by the front desk when we arrived) so that was very annoying.
Location was great, free parking near the hotel, good was good, quiet and relaxing, big room with a good view.

United KingdomThe key card for the room stopped working on 3 occasions which means walking all the way back to reception to get it reset. Also there was conflicting information with using a head cap for the spa as when I first attempted to purchase one on my first day and time in the spa the receptionist said I did not need one as I had very short shaved hair. Then a couple days later was told I must have one to be in the spa, I had no means to purchase one without going all the way back to room to get payment and so left the spa. The lifeguard also came across quite rude when I was trying to explain how I had been told different information earlier in the week.
The quality of the food and drink were very high. The overall decor and building was very nice.

Russiawe used room service, it was terrible, very unexpected for a 5 star hotel to have very low quality food. And some pillows in the room was very uncomfortable, I couldn’t sleep. the only option to change the pillow is to buy one in the hotel.

United KingdomSmall touches that make this more like a 4 star experience rather than 5 star: - No tissue box in bathroom to blow your nose - is it 5 star to blow your nose with toilet paper? - Housekeeping lack attention to detail: Left Dirty Cups, Did not replace shampoo/showergel or toilet paper without being prompted by the guest. - Queuing for buffets even though you've already paid. Queue takes forever (inefficient staff allocation) - we chose to dine at other hotels as they were much more efficient - Gym closes at 9pm - very early and was lacking aircon - Hand sanitizer was not present/topped up adequately in the gym - No towels in the gym - No water in the gym - Accessing the wifi required too many stages - Breakfast buffet: Good selection BUT you have to request almond milk, oat milk separately... that got annoying after 1 morning. Why not leave two containers of alternative milks out with the other milk/orange juice - most 4 star hotels do this as standard now...! - Positive: they have gluten free options (if you ask the staff). The room itself is good however the staff do not "audit" the room and check for issues. For example, the fixture that holds the shower head to the wall was loose - so you can't keep the shower on whilst leaving the showerhead in place. I didn't bother complaining to get it fixed, but I would expect the housekeeping to discover this during their cleaning and report it automatically (lack of training). The hotel is designed for families (not couples) but that's OK. However, there are missed opportunities - for example they have a nice outdoor area with sofas, but there is no place to buy drinks or music. The staff try their best and do a good job overall (very friendly) but I think the management is taking a lot of short cuts. Overall I would recommend the hotel to families and the facilities / location to the beach can't be beaten, but couples should avoid.

SpainMy only minus to this trip is the fact that the listing shows a room with a spacious terrace and we received one with a balcony instead. Apparently both rooms have the same rate but when I asked there were no more terrace rooms available. While the balcony was nice enough, it would be good to specify the type of terrace or balcony you are paying for. Looking at the hotel room pictures, this was immediately one of the features that encouraged us to choose this hotel, in order to have a private terrace to relax and sunbathe for our anniversary.
Great experience at Grand Palas. Rooms are wide and comfortable, I asked for a double bed and they immediately accommodated. Hotel gives you access to spa facilities which are quite pleasant, featuring a variety of options to bathe and relax in. Staff was always very helpful and welcoming, check-in, parking and overall experience with staff went quite smoothly. Even with a busy hotel, rooms are quiet and you get a deep sense of rest and relaxation, which is not the case for most hotels in the area, especially such a loud/crowded one like La Pineda/Salou. You really find yourself in a quiet little paradise and disconnected from a the loud and vibrant surroundings
