To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

HungaryThe drain in our tub was blocked, the water was draining very slowly. Breakfast doesn't have a large selection, no vegetables at all.
The location is perfect! It's right next to Gran Vía, but you don't have to worry about the noise. You can reach all the attractions on foot from here. The bathroom is big enough, fits two people comfortably. The mattresses are comfortable and large. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable.

IrelandBreakfast is the only aspect that could be improved: you can have either a sweet or savory breakfast, but the quality of products was not the best, as well as the coffee machine. But it is really a tiny detail, as we enjoyed it everyday and all the other - more important - aspects absolutely met our needs.
The location is unbeatable! From the hotel most of Madrid's must-see places are at walking distance. The room we got was amazing: spacious, incredibly clean and the bed was bigger than the standards, as they knew that our daughter would sleep with us. We will recommend this hotel, and we'll come back!
