Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The floor was quite dirty when we arrived and we were also located next to the baggage lockers so there were a lot of people coming back and forth. But this would only be for two out of the many apartments so most likely not an issue for others
A great apartment with nice terrace and very spacious. Good for a family or couples trip. Also good central location. The kitchen was well equipped and clean and it had two bathrooms

There were some hiccups with the door code, which never worked on the front main entry. However, the phone pass worked well.
The location was superb, and the apartment was very comfortable and had everything I needed. The washing machine was a bonus! Very comfortable bed and it was really lovely to be able to open the doors.

The main issue that we had with the apartment is that it was very cold and the heating (via AC) took very long to work properly (or didn't at all). Having a baby with us, this was not ideal (but it was cold for us adults as well during the night). Same for the bathroom - there was an electric heater, but unplugged. I think it would have been easy to start the heating systems 1-2h before our arrival when the apartment was being made ready. The shower is quite difficult to operate and reach a good water temperature (it's either too cold or too hot, you constantly have to fiddle with it). This leads to a lot of unnecessary water waste (with water anyway being a problem in Barcelona). One other small thing, was not huge but it would have made our lives easier. We asked for a highchair and were told that it will be in the apartment, but it wasn't there.
Good central location, nice building. A lot of coffee / breakfast options nearby. Smooth checkin process, clear instructions for arrival and good communication by phone with the hosts. The apartment was not ready earlier like we had asked, but we were able to leave our bags there when we arrived. Beautiful and spacious apartment, has pretty much everything you would need for your stay Very nice terrace, unfortunately we didn't use it much as the weather was already cold, but for higher temperatures it's definitely a selling point!

Poor shower that didn’t work properly.had to use the shower hand held hose all the time we were there Difficultly getting into the premises initially and when I rang the emergency number sent to me they just hung up on me !

Host was very responsive and allowed us to check in early. Place was optimally located near great restaurants, bakeries and high end shopping. Famous landmarks also nearby. In addition very close to metro. Would definitely recommend this place and stay here again when back in Barcelona!

We didn’t easily access the apartment due to not having the information easily to hand. The booking information simply gave a code for entry but not the detailed instructions. Luckily there was a number to call and this was answered immediately and the very helpful person talked us through it. I am still not sure how we were supposed to access the detailed information about how to access the property. Once we did know it was super easy.
Fantastic location surrounded by excellent transport links, shops and restaurants. Very quiet building with no disturbance from other guests. Great apartment overall with excellent kitchen facilities. We loved the balcony area too.
