To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

United KingdomWhen we arrived there was nobody on reception and whilst they had sorted out getting us the keys there was no bedding or towels in our apartments. We were unexpectedly late due to traffic in Honfleur but did try to let them know and got no answer. We and booking.com tried for hours to get hold of somebody but nobody was contactable even on the emergency number so we had to sleep on a bare mattress in our clothes which was an awful and unhygienic start especially for my children. We did finally get them to agree to a refund for the night but we had two apartments and so far the refund has only been confirmed for one. In addition, the apartment wasn’t that clean and our shower attachment was held up using a spoon! At this point we just wanted to get on with enjoying our holiday (having already lost the first day) so didn’t bother to complain but a lot of things were either broken or unclean. They also expect you to clean the apartment before you leave (covid is the excuse for this) which given the price we paid I would have expected to be included. We had to leave early so meant getting up very early to clean and left a poor taste to the end of the holiday. There were other little things that also weren’t brilliant like no access to the pool for our buggy (there was a gate but it was always locked) and the blankets need a clean which meant overall we were not impressed and wouldn’t return. Edit - the hotel has replied to this review but their comments are untrue. Both rooms were left without bedding (we can’t understand how they think this was given to us when the reception was closed?!) and they have only refunded us for one and are now no longer replying to my messages. Both us and booking.com tried repeatedly to get them on the phone including on the emergency number but nobody answered either number all night leaving us completely stranded. Very sad that they are no resorting to lying and trying to discredit us.
The location is excellent and the facilities in term of the pool and grounds are lovely. The apartment is fairly basic but ok for what you pay.
