Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

A mas full of character dating from 16 th century - in which Martine has collected so many interesting and unique antiques and bric a brac. Our room was large and comfortable and the continental breakfast at a long table was more enjoyable than the usual separate tables. Martine is an enthusiastic hostess with many tales to tell. Will appeal to those looking for something out of the ordinary. The staff were very friendly.

SwitzerlandA small 17th-century farm with a unique character. The buildings have been beautifully and stylefully redone by an artistic hand and with an eye to details. Yet, they retain that very French touch of chosen imperfection, which I love a lot. The walls are breathing their age and the care that is taken to the place. Through the main door, you enter into a yard. There are several connected buildings. Some of them are inhabited by the owners, others accomodate guests or hosts artists and galleries. Martine, the host, and the lady who assisted her were very kind and welcoming, and super helpful with tips and ideas. Definitely a recommendation to go there!

United States of AmericaEverything was in disrepair…on purpose it seemed for effect and ‘charm’. The pool was very dirty. The hostess only accepts cash despite having a steady stream of customers every day.
The property looked like it was out of some fantasy story, every corner had some kind of vintage / antique decoration. There was pottery for sale, vines everywhere,a nice yard for breakfast, and the host was very accommodating, since we arrived after midnight.

United KingdomA wonderful reception in a 16th century farmhouse. The setting among olive and mulberry trees was perfect, and in particular the swimming pool that we had to ourselves in a late September heatwave.

United KingdomBreakfasts in a mosquito-ridden muddy garden sitting on rickety chairs. Swimming pool surrounded by mud and frankly unusable. Broken window in bathroom, ancient stained WC, unsafe wiring, no drawers or wardrobe. Grumpy husband. When asked if our room had been made up, Madame replied "We are not a hotel". Photos are VERY flattering...
Initial impression was charming - a bit like staying with an eccentric uncle with a rambling old house that couldn't stop buying at brocantes. Effectively you're staying in someone's home with homemade fig jam and rustic furniture, but even Madame said "It's not for everyone". We decided on reflection that it wasn't for us.

United KingdomThe room was very hot and no one slept more than a few hours. The apartment connected directly to the reception area which wasn’t locked. I doubt there’s any crime at all in the area but it would have been nice to feel more secure.
Plenty of rustic charm. Good pool. Friendly hosts. Large apartment for family. Very good evening meal.

FranceMartine, the owner and host was so warm and natural, she made us feel very welcome and at home. The accommodation is beautiful and unpretentious; we loved the stone staircase, terre cuite floors and custom made doors painted in natural colours. The courtyard was also charming with the sound of trickling water, wonderful collections of interesting objets in every nook and cranny and not a cobweb in sight! We would highly recommend Le Mas du Lac and will return if we can.
