Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

My room was fine for me as I’m relatively average size. A larger person would have struggled in my small single room as the gap between wall and getting into shower was extremely narrow - room 203.
Very central. Restaurants, bars, Metro and shops all close by Very friendly staff Very clean. Free coffee outside of breakfast hours of 7-11. 24 hour manned reception. Very good English speaking staff.

Room was on the small side but for one night as a solo traveler that is ok.
Most and foremost, staff was extremely warm and nice. All of them. Location was amazing. And on the ground floor there is a water dispenser and a coffee machine that are free of charge.

Only complaint is the toilet paper, it is the very cheap stuff that you'd only expect to see in a public restroom.
Location is very central which was convenient for sight seeing. It's very close to the tourism office, I recommend grabbing the city pass if you're goal is to discover museums and do a walking tour! The room was perfect and the hotel offers sparkling water and coffee which is great.

Only one aspect sadly: the hotel room. Corridors and common areas can be narrow but the room in itself is another story altogether. My bedroom felt cramped, and although I am not subject to claustrophobia and I did spend very little time in my room, I was not fully at ease. I should have taken more time paying attention to room pitctures.
Staff has been perfect. Great communication and anticipation, everyone has been caring and benevolent. The proposed breakfast buffet was nice, not too original but definitely heartwarming and qualitative (just what was needed during cold times in Winter). Hotel location is another advantage of my stay. To be near Bellecour is both practical and pleasant, given the nearby opportunities.

some staff is not that familiar with local attractions or public transportation, but they are very willing to help. Room is super clean, but it maybe not necessary to change the used soap to avoid waste. I am pretty fine with using the soap I used yesterday.

Breakfast for 15€ not included in the price and was very decent.
Very comfy bed and reasonable cleanness. Nice stuff attending you. Great location to visit Lyon city center. They provided water in glass water for free to bring to the room. Very calm and quiet too

Room is small but they warn you so that is fine, if you want a bigger room you have to pay more. Ergonomics of the bathroom could be better for me (80 kg and quite broad shouldered) toilet was really wedged in a corner. If you are big then for a long stay this could be annoying.
Nice little hotel very close to the Rhone. Efficient friendly staff.

My room was directly over a lively bar, some some noise before 24.00 was unavoidable
The position in the heart of Lyon was perfect. I appreciated a lot the possibility of having a kettle for a coffee in the morning. Very good ratio cost/level of the hotel.

Bed was not very comfortable Room safe broken Access issues when staff away from front desk: In one case we had to wait 10 minutes outside.
