The cook house is a wonderfully spacious, stylish and comfortable place to stay. There were lovely views across the fields, a marvellous sunrise for the Summer Solstice, and the sunsets each evening were awesome. We loved exploring the local area, There were good walks around fishing lakes and through woodland (even for seniors) and several National Trust places to visit in the locality. We enjoyed the welcome pack. We wish we could have extended our stay. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Thank you. We had a lovely break in this fantastic holiday cottage. We can definitely recommend.

The service was exceptional. Welcoming and efficient, The room was quirky and cute. Very traditional and the window looked over the street which was lovely. Beds were comfy and it was lovely and quiet for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was superb and the coffee was the best I've had.

A walk around town.

A walk around town. All our meals at the Peppermill and other locations. Visited one old church. Wish we had time to walk around the other areas, the castle, the 'newer' church. The CAEN HILL LOCKS. What a wonder! You must find the car park and plan to spend at least a couple of hours here and speak to the boat people that are moving through. They will have the time while the locks fill! We were amazed.

Devizes is a town full of quirky shops, has a lot of history. It has an amazing set of 29 locks that can be walked around very easily . Devizes is also in a fairly central position so that places like Bath are easily reached !

Devizes is a nice market town with cafes and independent shops. Within walking distance is the Kennet & Avon canal and the spectacular Caen Hill locks (a long series of locks that allow boats to navigate the hill). At the top is a nice cafe. Devizes is surrounded by other nice little market towns and is not far from Bath so it is a great touring base.

A lovely historic market town that has a good mix of...

A lovely historic market town that has a good mix of historic urban and nearby nature, as well as being a launch-pad to explore Wiltshire (eg Avebury stone circles, Silbury Hill, etc). Compact town that's easy to walk around - canals and woodlands too. A bit of a shame the historic 'castle' location is private land and inaccessible, but plenty else to see. Bonus: the Wiltshire Museum is located in the town and is pretty good value, with lots of things for the kids to interact with - building/drawing/reading etc - among some amazing artefacts

There's a great market in the centre of Devizes every...

There's a great market in the centre of Devizes every Thursday, around the historic market cross in front of the Corn Exchange and the Bear Hotel. Would have liked to explore it if we had stayed longer. Also to visit the indoor antiques market , Wadsworth Brewery, the castle and the museum in Devizes and to explore the local shops and tea rooms.

I'd lived there for 30 years, but recently re-located.

I'd lived there for 30 years, but recently re-located. The town looks to be in decline with some key employers closing down. Wadsworth's brewery, is in the process of being demolished, so a bit of an eyesore. The market square is partly closed to traffic due to a fire in a kebab shop and locals tell me this is impacting in footfall to the town. Sad to see it this way. Great if you like charity shops and Turkish barbers! White Bear pub is still superb though:)

Great old hotel and really friendly staff and good atmosphere. The room was spacious and had everything as stated in the write up. View of the market place was fantastic. Bathroom en-suite was clean and tidy. We ate at the restaurant at night and the food was great value and well presented. The breakfast was the best quality we have had this year! Again staff were experienced and polite and friendly. Location was brilliant and free car parking. Will definitely be coming again.

Very comfortable accommodation in the centre of Devizes. Newly fitted out and furnished, very comfortable bed. Excellent cooked breakfast, we had smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Cold breakfast options a bit limited. Very quiet, despite being in the centre of town. No parking at the hotel, short stay parking close by, long stay a couple of hundred yards away. Nearby on-street paring overnight or all day on Sundays.

Very warm welcome, the Hotel is in a good position with car park opposite. The staff were all fantastic and vet helpful. The bedroom was very large along with the bathroom. Everything was very clean and well maintained.

Located right in the heart of Devizes with easy access to local restaurants and attractions. Whilst the property doesn’t have parking, there is plenty of public parking close by. Very welcoming host.
