To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomDirections to car parking online were terrible - receptionist agreed. Lots of marks, stains, scuffs on carpet, curtains, bed etc. Cooked breakfast had been there for hours and not replaced/replenished. Coffee not great.
Nice man at reception, friendly staff. Big enough room, all pretty clean and comfortable. Amazing location in Centre next to station and Hypodrome. Nice foyer etc. Fruit and plain yogurt at breakfast. Offer of poached eggs.

United KingdomOur room was cold. Was given a heater though when asked about this. We had absolutely no WiFi in our room even when connected to the hotel. When I plugged in any of our devices the sockets made a worrying sound. Definitely a problem with all of them in the room. As well as the sound our devices wouldn’t charge - kept going in and out of connection. The bathroom could have done with an update.

United KingdomI only took points off for staff as eating in the restaurant at night was a little slapdash, not sure who/where the staff were, although the food when it arrived was good.
Location was perfect for us, stayed many times before as it's just between New Street Station and the Birmingham Hippodrome where we go to see shows. Excellent check in. Very good lifts. Comfortable and spacious room with a fridge. Huge king sized bed. Great breakfast.

United KingdomOn site Starbucks was awful. Staff grumpy, hot drinks served in paper cups and little on offer to eat at 4pm.
Bed was comfortable and bedding soft. Shower room was fine. Great to be able to open our 4th floor window for fresh air, albeit only a few centimetres. Breakfast was great. Fresh fruit, fruit salad, yogurts and granola pots. Along with baked goods there was a wide range of hot food.

United KingdomLocation was perfect for Bullring, New Street Station, Alexandra Theatre - most places really. Room was very comfy and lovely and quiet at night. Lobby area very nice. Parking was a little confusing, but we parked at the Britannia car park and paid a reduced rate at the hotel reception desk. 24hrs for £9.50ish. Great to have a holding room for bags - meant we didn't have to carry rucksacks with us before check-in time.
