To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomThe main door was closed at 10.30pm and we had a problem getting in it's a good job it wasn't raining.On the door is a number to ring which we did and it wasn't answered it also said press the white button which wasn't answered in the end we'd to bang on the window to be let in ,I don't think that is very good for a upmarket hotel

Great location in the middle of town. We came by bicycle and the staff were really helpful and locked our bikes in a secure place overnight.

United KingdomBar area wasn’t very big. There was a draft coming from the bedroom windows but it’s an old building so there not much they could do about that. It was fine once the curtains were closed.
Room was spacious and the bed was big & comfortable. Food in the restaurant was very good. We had an evening meal and really enjoyed it

United KingdomRoom faced onto the main road so there was quite a bit of traffic noise early in the morning. I would ask for a room overlooking the car park at the back of the hotel if I returned. Also bar was shut when we returned to the hotel in the late evening.

United States of AmericaThere is no real pub in the hotel. The pub seems to be a part of the restaurant with almost all tables reserved and no seating for just a pint.
The room was well appointed, modern and comfortable. Dinner was spectacular - beautifully prepared food and nice atmosphere. Loved the outside beer garden with heaters and interesting decor throughout the hotel.

United KingdomNo lift in the hotel. We were happy to use the stairs, but some people might need a lift.
Our original double room was nice, but a bit small and as we were staying for 4 nights asked for a bigger room if possible. We were delighted to be upgraded to a junior suite at no extra cost and the staff moved our cases too! Food in the restaurant was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and lovely.
