Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe attached restaurant was very good - nice staff service and good food - had breakfast as well which was also good and well catered
Our room had a nice view over the beach and beyond to the pier area one end and the port and cliffs to the other - there is a very comfortable and sunny lounge area where drinks and food are served - lovely spot for a slow afternoon

United KingdomThere’s a touch of the ramshackle about it, but in a nice way. Lift is old, noisy and slow. But never mind.
Lovely old fashioned hotel in a great location. Friendly staff. Nice bar and restaurants. Simple, but clean, convenient and comfortable.

United States of AmericaThe elevator was slow and small but nothing to do about it.
Location and building were ideal for our travel from Canterbury and across to Calais by ferry. Our room was pretty and comfortable with a nice view.

United KingdomI didn’t like that the toilet over glow was going all the time. And especially through the night. Also the biggest thing we was disappointed with is there was no where it sit at night and have a drink as there was a private party in the bar.
Instead of having to go to hotel to request permit, it would of been nice for this to be in place so we could drive straight to car park

United KingdomThe rooms were a bit on the small side ( last time we stayed in a family room it was really spacious and comfortable )but I suppose that that was the result of my booking choice.
Check in - very polite and efficient Rooms - clean Car park. The small stony beach directly opposite the hotel The staff in the restaurant were extremely helpful as we had 2 children and a number of allergies involved in our meal requests. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a most enjoyable meal . Thank you!

United KingdomI did not like the rooms at the back, singles can be grey, grim and even a little grimy so I usually stay at the front, with a seaside view. It's worth upgrading as these rooms are cleaner, brighter and you won't get the sound of the road from the back
The staff are universally friendly and helpful; whether at reception, or in the bar - great beers - in the fish'n'chip cafe or in the restaurant. The breakfast, when there is a menu service as well as just the buffet, will serve you old style classics; you can order smoked fish - like the golden age of hotels long since gone, this reminds us how good things were before multinationals starting messing with food! None of that here, though it may be owned by a trans national the service is old-style British, in the best of those traditions; from the genial hosts to the wonderfully quirky waiters at breakfast. Priceless! Seaside views for a premium well worth paying. Outdoors eating & drinking as well as restaurant & bar. Memorable.

United KingdomA wing of the property was under renovation so we did hear construction noises and there was smell of paint in our room.
We had a family room (one double bed, one single bed, one double pull-out sofa bed), which was large, clean and well-equipped. We were also upgraded to a seafront room, which was appreciated.

GermanyThere was a larger gap between the door of the room and the floor resulting in some light from the hallway coming into the room even at night. Regardless, the hotel was relatively quiet at night and there was little to complain about.
The hotel is located right next to the ferry docks and the stone beach so a quick stroll by the water is easily possible. Additionally, there are grocery stores nearby, parking in the back of the hotel is available free of charge, and the breakfast offers a wide variety including dairy-free milk alternatives, vegetables, fruit, etc.

United KingdomNothing bad to say; maybe just to improve the lift of the hotel that is too small and slow but you can always use the stairs. I have found a bit expensive the restaurant of the hotel but a good quality of food.
I have been 1 night in this hotel during Easter weekend; the location is amazing just in front sea side and short distance from the city center and station. The room was nice, clean and big enough with a great view on the sea side. All the stuff very kind. The hotel has also a SPA that is included in your stay with sauna, steam and jacuzzi. Overall very recommended for your stay in Dover.

United KingdomRoom needs some improvement in sound proofing and interior maintenance. Toilet and bed are clean, though the expellor in the toilet is too weak leaving the bathroom wet quite long while.
Excellent breakfast and perfect location. Staff is outstanding, they are very helpful though obviously are very busy during Easter weekend. Seaview is perfect, with bonus a seagull knocked a morning call to our window. you will not need to walk far away but stay in the room to catch sunrise if you are lucky.
