Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The room faced a very busy street so it was quite noisy. Especially on a Saturday night as there are pubs and restaurants around. Also wi-fi on the 3rd floor was very weak.
The location is very good. The room was very spacious and comfortable, it had everything that was needed.

The sofa bed was not used as the bed frame was falling apart, and the mattress was so thin and uncomfortable. Thankfully, there was enough room for my child to sleep on the bed (which was very comfortable). We were also woken up at 5:30 am by a fire alarm, which turned out to be a false alarm. They weren’t able to turn off the alarm right away so we’re waiting outside for almost 30 minutes. We were pretty cranky that day.
The bed was super comfy, the room surprisingly quiet even though we were facing a busy street, room overall was nice and clean and the staff was very nice. The location is perfect, as we were able to easily walk to the main attractions.

The shower was okay.
Great little space to settle in. Good size for a couple only staying overnight. Location is definitely ideal for those exploring Edinburgh City. The staff were very friendly.

The room was a bit tide, however it was not a big issue for 1 night stay.

I ran our of hand soap and body wash and had to leave a note for the cleaners to replace them. No plug sockets near the bed.
Location was great, staff were great, room was clean and basic but reasonable for what I paid.

We were a large group who had three rooms but unfortunately we were split across the two separate buildings which made things a little difficult.
Greta location. Very clean and the staff were super helpful.

The room was much smaller than the pictures that show for the style of room we booked. The sofa bed for the kids was extremely uncomfortable. The light above the dining table flickered so we couldn't use it.

Not enough signs/ information to find rooms. The plug sockets were not directly next to beds.

The hotel is close to the tram from the airport. It's a bit of a walk to the Grassmarket and Old Town but it's easy to find. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby that serve both breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Lack of a bar in the hotel, it's basically just rooms.
Great location and perfect for the Usher Hall, couldnt fault it. It was also very quiet even though it's on a main road with trams.

I couldn't fault anything but would have given it 10 if there was the option of more pillows as the one just wasn't comfortable. Everything else was great.
It's in a great location for going to the shops but also a short walk from the Usher Hall, which was perfect as that's where we were headed. Rooms were nice and even though we were at the front of the hotel with trams going passed, we couldn't hear them!

Information concerning the sofa bed: Our two daughters did not enjoy sleeping on it (too noisy and not enough stable). The bed in the sleeping rom was very good - as mentioned above.

Windows don’t open so if the room gets too hot with the radiator you are out of luck for hours before it cools down
It is definitely bare bones but it’s super close to the Castle and most major tourist sites. Convenience outweighed everything else.

The heating system didn't work, was left on max for the entire stay but the room was colder than the corridor outside. The kitchen was properly sized but some basics were missing, like a sponge to clean dishes. The main bed was good, but the sofa bed was very uncomfortable and noisy.
Location is great, very near the bus from the airport. Checkin was easy and fast. The room was quite spacious and silent, considering it's next to a very busy street.
