Had the four posted bed room, which was awful. Was a fake four poster bed, just the outa frame with a divan bed inside the frame. Which means it wasn't solid, so every time you move / turn over in the night it was noisy. We did not sleep very well due to the noise.

The building, grounds and staff were great.

The fact that there is no children's play area, I appreciate there is a lovely swimming pool but would not spend a whole day in it.there is plenty of outdoor space for a play area.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very spacious and clean.

The corridors that link the sections of the hotel. I’m good at directions and knowing my bearings though other family members often got confused as to where the room was. And my only negative experience was on our last evening when we ate at the lounge bar. (We’d eaten there previously). We ordered a pie, chicken burger and a pizza. It took over an hour to arrive. The restaurant wasn’t busy and the previous night the same food order had only taken 20 mins. It was a little frustrating as we’d mentioned beforehand we were pushed for time. We would have preferred transparency about the food being delayed so we could have made a chose as to where to eat. Instead we received a nicely cooked pie, dry chicken burger and a pizza which appeared to have been reheated.

Very attractive building. Felt that it had recently been renovated. Rooms were a good size and felt warm and welcoming. There were several options for places to eat at the hotel and with many facilities to use like the pool

Due to the age of the building, a lot of the flooring is creaky in the main building and we could hear people in the room above.

We had a few issues with our first room, but reception staff were quick to rectify the issue and provided us with a complimentary upgrade. Our upgraded room was lovely with a stunning view of the golf course. The reception and cleaning staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel location is only a short drive from the city centre and there is ample parking on site. Breakfast was exceptional and dinner at the on site restaurant was lovely. The swimming pool was a good size and is open to hotel guests.

The rooms don’t have air conditioning so very stuffy and hot, no fridge provided and only two usable plugs in the room.

The property is spectacular in itself, lovely eateries, good gym and spa, lovely grounds and golf.

This is a very well run hotel. I was very impressed, good numbers of staff. Breakfast was very slick. I imagine it would be busier if there was a wedding or two overnighting. All staff very pleasant and helpful. Liked the two double beds. Better than a camp bed for not so small child.

The room furniture could do with updating and the bathrooms need a little tlc . The bar in the evening was very busy as you can order food as well, it is confusing where to stand to order at the bar if your in the wrong place your just told you can't order at that end of the bar then you have to queue up again at the other end. Simple signage would help. The food took over an hour to come

This was my second time at Dunston hall it is a lovely building with lots of character. I like the facilities. The gym is well equipped, nice pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The beds where comfortable, the bathroom had a good shower. Although I don't play golf it looked inviting, if the weather was better I would have enquired about a beginners trial. The staff on reception where polite and helpful . Breakfast is great lots to choose from the buffet hot and cold and all delicious.

Just a very minor point that personally, I found the bed a little uncomfortable, perhaps because it was a bit dated. Annoyingly though, the wife slept like a log !!!

Great location and peaceful/ picturesque surroundings. Shocked to get a complimentary room upgrade to a suite, looking out across the 18th green. Staff were all very helpful and attentive, despite the hotel being pretty busy. Big thanks to the late night reception team and restaurant staff - who made us all feel very welcome.

Our room didn't have a reasonable view - we were looking at air conditioning units on rooftops which was a shame when we were in such lovely grounds. This fact was not mentioned at the time of booking. Perhaps it should be added on to room details as to what the view from the room is of! It was noisy with other room noises and corridor noise. Didn't find the hotel particularly comfortable for lounge areas and general ambience.it was quite a limited menu for evening meals and breakfast although a good choice was not the best quality we've had.

Pool area was nice. Bed was comfortable and big. Bathroom toiletries were of good quality.

Cleanliness was very poor on arrival there was litter in the grounds and out room had mould on the grout and the plastic shower trim was green with slime. The lamp shades were dusty. It’s a pity really as the hotel itself was lovely and we enjoyed the facilities.

The grounds and the house were lovely and the pool and spa was very nice.

Only 2 things let this down slightly for me. 1. The 'Tea Snug' you can only go in there for tea if you have a full afternoon tea. I didnt - I just wanted to sit somewhere comfy and have coffee, but you can't unless you reserve and have the full works. I noted that this beautiful room was nearly always empty. Such a shame. 2. In the suite I stayed in, whilst luxurious, it had a really strange window! it started at the floor and only went up to my elbows, so when you stood up you couldnt see out. Very odd. I think I was in Ash Suite (room 111 I think)

The building was stunning - well the old part I stayed in anyway. (I didn't see any of he rooms that were not in the Manor House). The food was fantastic as were the treatment rooms and swimming pool. The room was quiet and luxurious. I think I stayed in Ash Suite. The Garden Room is beautiful too - its a room where you can sit and have a snack or a meal near the indoor bar. The restaurant, whilst fairly modern inside, had lovely views if you were near the windows.
