Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomParking is on road or in nearby laybys but we found a space each day. This meant a small walk to the property with bags etc but we were ok with that.
Fryers Cottage is beautiful and has very good facilities and furnishings. The host was very helpful, the property was clean and looked exactly as advertised. It was cosy and a great base to use to go out walking for the days and then come back to.

United KingdomThe sink was a little too close to the toilet, but there’s no where else for it to really go, also one of the kitchen cabinets had a screw that needs screwing in.
Everything was perfect, absolutely blew our expectations. The only things are below.

United KingdomCar parking is further up the road which is a bit of a pain when unpacking/packing. Had to leave rubbish for the cleaners as no recycling bins available
Great location for Wirksworth and surrounding area. Quaint little cottage, comfortable bedrooms, nice bathroom, kitchen and lounge. Exactly as expected from the photos and from a Derbyshire cottage. We really enjoyed it.

United KingdomThe TV had online connection issues for using any apps like Netflix etc, we couldn't get it working. We didn't overly fight with it as we weren't that fussed but I can imagine this would annoy TV lovers.
Lovely clean and cosy little cottage in a great location. Has everything you need for a a few days away. Walking distance into the village for the essentials and some sweet little shops and cafes. A quiet road and quiet location even over new year. Would deffinitely recommend.

United KingdomWe loved the cottage. It was beautifully furnished and equipped and even had Christmas decorations. We were staying in it as a couple so although the cottage is very bijou, the size was fine. I think 3 people is the max it would accommodate comfortably. The log burner made it even cosier and we were able to get logs and fire logs from Ken's Supermarket in the village. The bed was comfortable. Everything about the cottage felt well maintained and even the crockery, glasses and pans (except the frying pan) were good quality. It was also very well equipped with toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven and hob. We liked it so much we asked about staying an extra night. Although we were a little concerned about the parking at first, we found a space easily just a bit further up the road.

It was an amazing place and just felt so cozy and after spending a day doing activities it was nice to come back and cozy up on the couch and just relax. I really enjoyed the atmosphere the place set as well nice cottage in beautiful area.

United KingdomThe bathroom is quite old, the shower was broken 2 of the 3 days we stayed there, so showering was a pain for adults and kids. Despite multiple request i was never given a confo for an early checkin and the property was not cleaned by the cleaners. This was all done post our check in which is appreciated.
The apartment is a nice cozy cottage snuck in Winksworth and away from the attractions in Matlock. Very practical for a 4 member family. Some fixing in the bathroom will make the property spot on. Host was always reachable

United KingdomThe parking wasn't ideal. The details say parking on site but it's actually just public parking spaces up the narrow and fairly steep lane so you're not guaranteed to get a space or be close to the cottage and it can be quite a trek uphill to get back to the car.
The property was perfect. Beautifully decorated, clean and cosy. The beds were comfortable and towels were soft. It had everything we needed.

United KingdomThe tap on the shower was hard to turn fully off and some of the lights in the living room were cold white which put us off using them during the evening due to the harsh colour. Additionally the parking was a little annoying but there was ample space and as the road is relatively quite it didn't pose a material issue.
The cottage was small! But that only added to its charm and generated a warm and cosy feeling. We were additionally welcomed by a little welcome package. We found everything you could need in the property including a little milk and seasoning in the fridge and cupboard respectively (very nice touch). The property was clean and has been well looked after. I would suggest that four people in the property would be tight, but with the local pubs and the accessibility to the Peak District, I would say this is an issue.
