Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was easy to get into Bowness, and to get to Orrest Hill viewpoint. We parked on the road outside. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and, although the smallest in the house, wasn't pokey.

United KingdomIt was a lovely clean room. Everything we needed. Nice spacious bathroom. They go the extra mile in their welcome pack, which has everything you need to know about the hotel facilities aswell as a long list of cafes and restaurants in Windermere. We met them at check in and check out, and they were lovely. Willing to do what they could to make our stay better. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomLovely property from start to finish. Tim and Cathy were both so welcoming, very helpful with anything we needed (which wasn’t much as everything was there for you!). Perfect room and amenities for what we needed. Location was also brilliant - 2 minute walk into Windermere and 20 minute walk into Bowness-on-Windermere. Couldn’t recommend more. We would definitely stay again.

United KingdomHaisthorpe Guest House is a charming property, hosted by the very warm and hospitable Tim & Cathy. The room itself was beautifully designed, warm and comfortable; breakfast was excellent; the location a lovely walk into Windermere Village or Bowness. Tim and Cathy couldn’t have been more friendly, warm and welcoming - With lots of local suggestions. I will be recommending Haisthorpe to everyone and hope to return soon - Thank You 🙏

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing 10/10 service . Will 100% be back without question and would recommending it to anyone.
Fantastic location, very clean, hosts were absolutely fantastic. Rarely say this but absolutely nothing to fault, a great friendly service from a couple who genuinely care about your stay and maintaining a high standard of service. We stayed in the small double which should be called the cosy double as it was absolutely fantastic. An EXTREMELY comfortable and cosy attic room which is slightly smaller than other rooms in the house but provided more than enough space for two people. We loved how comfortable and homely this room was with a modern bathroom. The bedroom decor provided a real warm/pleasant feel and lovely little window view. We were also astonished as the bed sheets were the softest sheets we had ever had out of any hotel/b&b. I feel this guest house is very underpriced and cant speak highly enough of my stay here.

United KingdomNothing it was absolutely perfect .
I booked Haisthorpe for my partner's 50th , we had room 3 the Superior King room on the 1st floor. It was very spacious and the bathroom was immaculate. We were shown where extra teas and coffees were available if needed and how the facilities in the room worked. The bed was super comfy. We even had an afternoon nap it was so relaxing. We love the location and it's only a short walk to Windermere amenities and bus services to get around the lakes. There is ample free parking around Holly Road. We managed a spot directly outside. A warm welcoming guest house which we will definitely re visit.

Spent two nights last week with my family. We had 3 rooms in total. All rooms were SUPER clean and the hosts were very nice. The location of this house is perfect because its near a bus stop and restaurants are near as well. A short drive (5min) you will arrive to Bowness-on-Windermere which is a very nice place to eat and enjoy yourselves. I contact the owners before our arrival to give us some more info about the place and how we can get around the area. Again, they provided us with all the details needed. Area is quiet which makes it a perfect place for one to spend a few days in peace and quiet. I will definitely return to this house next time I'm in Windermere.

Haisthorpe Guest House, situated on a very quiet street, was every bit as lovely in person as it had been on the site. Tim gave us a wonderfully cheery greeting when we finally arrived- full day trip from the states- and filled us in on what to expect from the area. Our room was charmingly decorated and afforded us a view of Orrest Head out our window. The continental breakfast was attended by Tim's lovely wife Kathy who saw to our every need. ( Extra bonus: Tim makes his own Seville Orange Marmalade which is spectacular.)
