A lovely stop off on our canal walking holiday. These lovely old inns are still looking after weary travellers. Good Sunday lunch.

One small window in a corner room. There were loads of glass panels in the corner room that are frosted over so I couldn't look out of the Window.

    The cleanliness and foos

Stairs and floors a bit creaky, but to be expected in such an old building

I would have liked a tea pot to make tea at breakfast - or better yet a pot of hot tea from the kitchen. But I am picky!

Breakfast was cooked to order & delicious. Staff all friendly & evening meal very good. Room was comfortable; well equipped & kept spotless during our stay.

Location, we had a wedding 6 miles away and our quote for a return trip was £90. The taxis have to come from Newbury or Reading Our room was nice and comfy, clean. We weren’t keen on the decor and the bathroom was very small. The breakfast was good but with a lot of self serve ( drinks and toast ) which, for us, spoils the experience.

Lovely old building. Friendly, helpful staff. We had a power cut while we were getting ready for a wedding party and they brought up to the room several candles for us.

A lot of trafic noise in our room (room 11). It also had very large windows letting in light. This room was different from others we saw. Upstairs corridor rickety quaint in an old building style, but the carpet was filthy and very worn. Replacing it would make a huge difference. Our restaurant meal was disappointing.

Great breakfast. Lovely staff Great pub atmosphere downstairs with several different areas and interesting objects. Great in the daytime for kids around the bar/restaurant area. It suited well for a large family congregating for a wedding at Wasing.

It was very cold and a little noisy with the cars passing as no double glazing in our room. A bit tired looking. Rather small bathroom.

It was a great location for the purpose of our trip. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Comfortable beds.

The building is on a busy road, and you can clearly hear the traffic. I would also hear what was going on in the next room - although it was an adjoining room with a connecting door. That may have affected the sound proofing.

The food is just magnificent. Much more great restaurant and much less pub food. I had the hake, and it was gorgeous. Breakfast is equally good. The staff are lovely.

Loved getting a proper key rather than a digital key card. The rooms were rustic and homely and the staff were incredibly friendly. A great selection of tea and coffee as well.

Our room could be interconnected so it was a little strange to hear the neighbouring guest. Not particularly keen on hard floors in a bedroom, bring your slippers 😆

Very welcoming staff who were working hard to deliver great customer service. Clean and tidy room with comfortable beds. Breakfast gave good options and all cooked to order. Plenty of parking.

Lots of filler in walls not sanded down or painted over in our room. Looks unfinished. Can see into shower from sleeping area, no separate door, continental breakfast option very disappointing, cleanliness needs addressing, very dusty windowsills and cobwebs, stains on leather seats, and rubbish on floors under seating in dining room .

Very friendly staff, room was comfortable, food very nice.

The lighting and the positioning of the light switches was a little odd.

We booked indulgent room instead of suite as last time we stayed the bed in the suite for us was not as comfortable as the bed in the indulgent room. When arriving it was the same bed as in the suite?
